This is a Part Time Unpaid Internship
The Basketball Analytics Video Intern will assist the front office and coaching staff with video needs regarding past games, upcoming opponents, and potential player acquisitions. This work will be used by coaches, performance staff, and front office personnel to influence decision-making and maximize the on-court performance of the Phoenix Suns.
What You Will Do:
• Code games for specific actions and results
• Conduct thorough basketball-related research
• Data analysis
• Web-based tool building (preferred)
• Data visualization
• Report writing
• Curious and motivated to learn, focused on gaining broad knowledge and skill-building
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance
What We Need from our Intern:
• Must have a working knowledge of basketball, including terminology, basic strategy, and the NBA
• Experience with Second Spectrum
• Sportscode experience (preferred)
• Some experience with R/Python coding (preferred)
• Experience with data visualization
• Strong communication skills
• Must demonstrate a high level of confidentiality and integrity
• Must be high energy, very detailed, intuitive, a self-starter, and work with minimal supervision
• Demonstrate ability to problem solve and prioritize based on organizational experience
Education
/Experience:
• Graduated from, or currently enrolled in, an undergraduate or graduate degree
• Experience with a basketball team at the collegiate level (or above) is preferred

• This role requires the candidate to be available to work immediately following Suns games (same night or morning after)
• Work includes remote indoor work
• M-Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
• Ability to work and communicate in noisy environments
• Ability to judge distance
• This role is computer-based and will require extended periods of time working in front of a computer screen
• Capable of distinguishing colors and shades of color
• Communicating with others to exchange information
• Ability to Read, Write & Speak in English
