Basketball Operations Analyst Data Science

This is a Full Time Job

The Basketball Operations Analyst; Data Science will assist in the creation of data-derived information pertaining to game strategy, player development, team building and personnel evaluation. The role will work on projects throughout the data pipeline, including data cleaning and ingestion, research, analysis, tool-building, visualization, and/or presentation. This work will be used by coaches, performance staff, and front office personnel to influence decision-making and maximize the on-court performance of the Phoenix Suns.

What You Will Do:
• Clean and ingest data
• Conduct thorough basketball-related research
• Data analysis
• Build statistically rigorous models
• Web-based tool building
• Data visualization
• Report writing
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance

What We Need From Our Analyst:
• Proficient in R/Python
• Working knowledge of SQL
• Experience with data visualization
• Strong communication skills
• Must demonstrate a high level of confidentiality and integrity
• Must be high energy, very detailed, intuitive, a self-starter, and work with minimal supervision
• Demonstrate ability to problem solve and prioritize based on organizational experience

Education & Experience:

• Graduated from an undergraduate or graduate statistics, engineering, applied math, physics, quantitative social sciences, computer science, or related program or relevant work experience in data science

What You Can Expect:
• Traditional business hours with weekends, evenings, and some holidays to meet business needs as the NBA schedule dictates
• S-Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible about of force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
