This is a Part Time Job
The primary purpose of the Artistic Director/Conductor is to provide an exceptional musical experience for all members of the Peoria Area Civic Chorale, as well as connect with the community, audience members, stakeholders, and Board of Directors.
o Establish and enhance an artistic vision that inspires all musicians, volunteers, audiences, and the community
o Serve as the principal conductor for all applicable rehearsals, performances, public appearances, promotional
opportunities, and other special events
o Incorporate a diverse selection of repertoire featuring various musical styles, genres, and difficulties
o Create a rehearsal atmosphere and artistic product that feeds the needs of singers and audiences
o Collaborate with the assistant director, accompanist, section leaders, and all other solicited musicians to create cohesive
leadership for the membership
o Recruit new singers and coordinate annual audition cycles
o Develop singers' vocal skills, musicianship, and technical knowledge through appropriate vocal and rehearsal pedagogy
o Assist with key funding opportunities, such as government and private grants
o Seek new individual and corporate donors, as well as build relationships with current key donors and stakeholders
o Engage the public in supporting the mission, artistic vision, programming, and organizational values through public
appearances, community collaboration efforts, and marketing opportunities
o Partner with the Board of Directors to assure fiscal health and organizational stability
o Present annual budget requests to the Board of Directors prior to the start of the fiscal year
o Attend monthly Board meetings as a non-voting member and keep the Board of Directors up to date on events and activities
o Perform all other duties as is typical for such a position and any additional duties assigned by the Board of Directors
