POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Vice President, Streaming Video Operations will be a highly experienced video operations leader with strong experience in multi-platform digital video delivery. They will lead a team of video streaming coordinators responsible for preparing, testing and monitoring state-of-the-art video delivery workflows for the NBC Direct to Customer organization to evolving multi-platform devices. The role requires strong leadership skills coupled with a mix of hands-on management, comprehensive technical knowledge, and delivery of a highly scale-able and available video infrastructure. The Vice President, Streaming Video Operations will be a key player in making NBC Direct to Customer dominant in digital video delivery for domestic and international users.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead, manage and optimize a team of 15 Video Streaming Coordinators responsible for multi-platform livestreaming setup, delivery and monitoring for all NBC Direct to Customer digital properties.
• Work with third party vendors in procuring required fiber and satellite paths / implementation oversight.
• Support live event requirements (live feeds and delayed feeds, etc.) ensuring all requirements are captured and coordinated properly for distribution.
• Maintain and communicate 24/7/365 staffing as required by events, including active on call escalation matrix to all required internal and external stakeholders for seamless end user deliver.
• Partner manage across a diverse eco-system to oversee evolving lifecycle and management of multi-platform video.
• Maintain operational leadership of the content and channel distribution systems deployed today.
• In conjunction with the SVP, develop short-term and long-term strategies for operations to drive automation capabilities, standardize media distribution, and realize efficiencies.
• Partner with peers in Digital Operations to establish clear technology and operational process upgrade paths.
• Establish, maintain and grow excellent working relationships with key internal stakeholders.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with major service providers globally and satellite operators.
• Partner with operational peers to provide ongoing analysis and continuous improvement of existing processes.
• Drive performance improvements using quality measurement and reporting mechanisms.
• Lead, educate and develop staff as necessary.
• React immediately to service disruptions, manage process around failover with staff and documented run books.
Qualifications
/Requirements
• 10 years' work experience in managing a linear or digital video operations team.
• 5 years managing budgets or P&L.
• 5 years managing operational support, including staffing schedules, escalation matrix and 24/7 support.
• Live and VOD video topology, with CDN cache deliver experience related to each.
• Experience in QC, FAX checks and service sign off pre-event.
• Understanding of CDN delivery technology.
• Extensive experience in leading 24/7 video operations organization.
• Highly organized and able to track multiple deliverables across projects and resources.
• Familiarity with hosting environments and best practices, knowledge of content delivery configurations for mobile video and data.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of technologists with varying levels of experience.
• Ability to integrate into a large agile development project and manage rapid development cycles.
• Ability to clearly communicate ideas and status updates to both technical and non-technical resources.
• Passion for professional sports and an interest in digital media.
