OPPORTUNITY
PBS Distribution is a leading distributor of public media content reaching global audiences through multiple platforms including PBS-branded OTT channels, digital download and streaming services, theatrical and inflight entertainment, DVD and Blu-ray sales and international licensing.
Our Production Operations team is seeking an experienced contractor with technical management experience. This position will help support the Sr. Director, Production Operations in all technical activities of the department including workflows, documentation, technical specifications, and the media supply chain.
This position is a one year contract position (1099). The team is based out of the PBS Distribution headquarters in Arlington, VA, but due to COVID-19 all work is being done remotely at this time. This position can be made remote full time for the right candidate, when the team returns to the office.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work with Sr. Director to continually develop strategies to improve team and company efficiency, including researching and implementing new technologies.
• Evaluate department needs and create workflows for domestic and international distribution, including but not limited to transcode and edit workflows, and automation of technical workflows.
• Provide support to title managers for asset management and assist with the development of workflows as new partners are onboarded.
• Manage media and administrate systems within the media supply chain.
• Troubleshoot problematic media and technical issues with equipment. Work closely with vendors to resolve issues.
• Act as Technical / Post-Production resource (SME) for departments throughout the company as well as external vendors and
production companies.
• Ability to assist software developer with APIs for system integration.
• Train staff and educate them on technology, content security, and industry best practices.
WORK EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 5 years of experience in managing people and projects, ideally in a creative environment.
• Previous experience managing and working with post-production and distribution technology including but not limited to MAM, Transcode, and File Transport systems.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
• Understanding of video codec specifications, content production, transcoding, and new technologies
• Computer skills should include Microsoft Suite, file sharing applications, and cloud services.
• Experience working with media asset management systems.
• Experience editing with Adobe Premiere a plus
OTHER SKILLS
• Must be extremely detail oriented, resourceful, self-directed, and a creative problem-solver.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize them within a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
• Must have excellent customer service skills.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
EDUCATION/TRAINING
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
