POSITION TITLE: Manager, Production Operations
DEPARTMENT: Production Operations
STATUS: Full-time, Exempt
SUPERVISOR: Director, Production Operations
PBS Distribution (PBSd) is a leading distributor of public media content around the world, reaching audiences through multiple platforms and formats while generating revenue for the public media system, stations, and producers. Extending our reach beyond broadcast, we operate six streaming channels on Amazon Prime Video Channels.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for managing video/audio media mastering and distribution processes, including coordinating asset intake and deliveries across multiple media platforms, and managing DVD creation and product testing. It is also responsible for assisting in managing flow of information and documents within production operations department and company.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILTIES:
• Act as a content title manager across multiple verticals within the production department to manage the release of all assigned titles, new and catalog
• Ensure timely delivery of content to maintain established release dates for series and one-off titles, as well as channel and partner launches
• Work directly with Producers, Post-Production, and Vendors to receive content assets and to resolve any content and delivery issues
• Provide title and launch status updates to Production, Scheduling, and Marketing departments so they are aware of any updates, shifts, or risk associated with title launch
• Initiate and manage video/audio mastering and final delivery to vendors and partners for both digital and hard copy distribution
• Work within media asset management systems to confirm assets and deliver content to digital and broadcast partners and encoding/authoring vendors
• Work closely with vendors to assist in delivery of digital files and metadata to online distribution partners for content and channel launches including providing branding and funding info, metadata, and delivery method information
• Work with production team and marketing team to determine bonus content availability
• Review DVD packaging, product design, and functionality and provide feedback as needed
• Work with DVD manufacturer on bill of materials (BOM) approvals and ensure that all information is correct
• Manage various reports/databases, input data for hard copy, and digital program assets
• Continuously look for process improvement opportunities and recommend process improvement ideas
• Document standard operating procedures (as needed)
• Actively participate in and lead internal meetings, and external vendor/partner calls
• Additional tasks and project support as needed
WORK EXPERIENCE:
• 7 - 8 years of experience in production/project management, managing content, workflows, and organizational systems
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize within a fast-paced and constantly changing environment
• Experience in streaming media distribution
• Current or prior experience working in a broadcast or media distribution company
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
• Experience working with media asset management, scheduling, and file delivery systems
• Proficiency with project management software
• Knowledge of digital platforms and file encoding formats
• Knowledge of content production for DVD and Blu-ray authoring specifications
OTHER SKILLS:
• Must be proactive, detail oriented, and able to work with tightly controlled technical specifications
• Ability to coordinate numerous projects and meet aggressive deadlines
• Must be able to think critically and have excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills
• Knowledge of PBS Programming, policies, and procedures a plus

PBS Distribution is headquartered in Arlington, VA with an additional office In Boston, MA. The preferred location for the Manager, Production Operations is Arlington, VA.
