Position summary:
The Director, Media Supply Chain Operations bridges technical and operations management of the Media Supply Chain including planning, vendor relationships, execution, and ongoing systems operations. Responsible for media technical specifications (adhering to industry standards and best practices), and management of systems for intake, processing, and delivery of video assets across platforms. Ensures maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness and manages a small staff.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee media systems operations, including daily operations as well as development and implementation of overall media supply chain.
• Work with external vendors and internal stakeholders on design and implementation of hardware and software solutions for media systems [Media Asset Management (MAM), File Transfer, Transcoding)].
• Develop and maintain video/audio specifications across media supply chain including for intake, storage, transformation, and output.
• Oversee the design and implementation of transcode workflows.
• Serve as PBSd's internal expert on media specifications, including advising and assisting production partners and internal stakeholders with delivery specifications and troubleshooting.
• Lead training and adoption efforts for new and existing systems as well as develop training materials for stakeholders across the supply chain.
• Ensure media supply chain infrastructure and workflows are optimized to create efficiencies (time, costs).
• Track key performance metrics, milestones, and vendor performance against Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and report these to leadership and other stakeholders.
• Act as product owner for future media supply chain implementations.
• Work with internal technology partners on cybersecurity, cloud operations, and networking of media supply chain systems.
• Oversee management of file transfer software implementation, ensure maximum operating function, staff training, and accessibility.
• Accountable for budget tracking, reviewing estimates, monthly reconciliation, and cost/benefit analysis.
Work experience:
• 7+ years of work experience in the areas of television, media, or consumer products
• Staff supervision and oversight experience
• Knowledge of industry standards, workflows, cloud storage, and latest technologies
Education/training:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Skills:
• Experience with Media Asset Management systems, including cloud-based and/or hybrid
• Understanding of television/film production techniques and post-production
• Understanding of video codecs, content production, and media technologies
• Broad knowledge and experience of file sharing applications, storage, and cloud
• Knowledge of digital platforms and file encoding format
• Proven track record of supply chain management, with experience in media processing workflows
• Resourceful problem-solver, who can meet aggressive deadlines
• Adaptable and flexible in a challenging, demanding, and fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated ability to resolve complex issues and ensure solutions work seamlessly
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to manage, train, inspire, and motivate others
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting strict deadlines
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Knowledge of metadata specifications
• Knowledge of PBS systems and processes a plus
