News Associate Producer

Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj is looking for a skilled and energetic reporter or researcher to join the staff as an associate producer.

The associate producer is an important role that requires both reporting and investigative skills for primary reporting, accessing public records, analyzing data and research, and cultivating sources to help develop the news and argument-based stories that drive each episode.

The associate producer will pitch stories and ideas weekly, while also working for news producers to help them assemble a comprehensive research document and outline for each episode. This research document provides deep background and synthesis of complex ideas and topics for the writing team, and for data visualization and graphics created for the show. An impeccable understanding of fact, narrative, and a keen eye for ''the take'' is essential.

The job also involves detailed fact-checking of the script as it is being written, in addition to helping the news producers verify all graphics and visual elements. Associate producers work in close collaboration with news producers, footage producers, comedy staff writers, and the graphics team.
