POSITION: Accountant
LOCATION: Palmetto/ Southern Atlanta area
Passionflix is looking for an accountant to contribute to all aspects of the finance function in this dynamic environment. The company operates a popular streaming channel catering to a loyal fan base, with an emphasis on positive and compelling female driven content. The right candidate for this role is willing to roll up his or her sleeves and dive into the day to day operations of a small company where managing multiple priorities is a key to success.
REPORTS TO: CEO
RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Ledger Accounting - Maintain lead schedules for various balance sheet and income statement accounts and record related entries, including capitalized film costs, fixed assets and prepaid expenses.
Subscription and Membership Accounting & Collections - Assist with accounting for subscription and membership revenues as company continues to grow its customer base. This includes invoicing, reconciliations, and application of payments received.
Monthly Close - Reconcile various bank accounts. Prepare and record entries for the monthly close, including reclasses and accruals.
Audit - Assist with preparation of audit schedules, providing document support and managing inquiries for two annual financial statement audits.
Account Payable Support - Execute accounts payable payment process, including batch preparation, general ledger coding and payment setup using online banking platform.
Treasury Operations - Assist with cash management to ensure company's capital balances are sufficient to meet obligations.
Production Accounting - Manage production finances on an individual show basis, including cast and crew payroll, reconciliation to budget and cost ledger maintenance.
- Hire and oversee payroll accountant/s
- Provide weekly cost reports to CEO and Head of Production
- Hire and oversee any bookkeepers required for the individual productions, if needed.
- Ensure that the production accounting of all productions is organized, tagged and prepped for the Georgia tax audit (and other States if applicable).
Tax and Compliance - Interface with outside tax professionals to provide information required for income tax returns and various operational filings - e.g. sales and other local tax returns, and census data requests.
Participations - Manage revenue share process to compensate talent, music PROs, author and music artists royalties due. This includes contract interpretation, statement preparation and reconciliation to the general ledger.
Accounts Receivable - Manage accounting relationships with platform partners including Amazon, Roku and Vizio. Prepare invoices for contractual arrangements and licensing deals; interface with customers to manage collection process.
Variance Analysis - Analyze, explain and adjust company budget variances as needed on a monthly basis.
Controls and Process Improvement - Play an active role in continuing evaluation of control environment to ensure accuracy of reporting data is maintained.
QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years of experience, preferably with a mix of public and private accounting roles
Holds 4 year degree in accounting, finance or relevant field
Understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
General familiarity with the company's various lines of business - feature film production, licensing, and distribution through streaming channels and website operations
Familiarity with online banking and merchant account platforms
Comfortable with accounting software (Quickbooks) in an OS environment
Well-organized, possesses problem-solving skills, able to prioritize and attentive to detail. This is a hands on position and at times requires digging into historical data to resolve current issues
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
