Video Engineer, Application Specialist (API Integrations)
Overview and Responsibilities
Paramount Tech is hiring a Video Engineering - Application Specialist: Linear Playout and Distribution. This position is responsible for Research, Design, Installation, Configuration, Commissioning, Test and Documentation of video playout, encoding, monitoring and control systems tailored to the specific requirements of a global linear playout and distribution environment. Responsibility includes configuration of broadcast video applications and hardware, including the automation and integration of Broadcast Applications through API, JSON, REST, SOAP, Python Scripting etc.
Responsibilities
Include:
• End-to-end fulfillment of assigned projects and tasks, including installation, configuration and commissioning of video equipment and software applications.
• Coordinate in-house and third-party resources to fulfill system integration tasks for documentation, fabrication and installation.
• Collaborate with in-house technical support teams to perform system acceptance testing and training.
• Align with Senior Director, Video Engineering and VP, Media Engineering on key business and technical requirements, standards, and methodologies.
Basic Qualifications
• Experience in the designing, building, and commissioning of video playout and encoding systems for broadcast distribution and live streaming via IP. Ideally these systems would have included technologies such as uncompressed HD/SD video, compressed video/audio encoding, IP transport stream distribution, OTT streaming architecture, and IP networking including multicast.
• Proven ability to craft, test and integrate software scripted and API data interfaces between applications.
• Experience in IP Routing, Multicast, NTP, DNS, AD, SNMP, Windows and Linux operating systems.
Additional Qualifications
• Knowledge and experience in scripting (Python, Powershell, etc), process automation, data acquisition, measurement and analysis tools.
• Understanding and experience implementing API interface methodologies including SOAP, REST, JSON, and SNMP.
• Familiarity with broadcast, RF, and network infrastructure monitoring and control systems, and Ethernet network topologies.
• Experience with communications protocols including IP and serial communications
• Familiarity with Agile project management tools and techniques such as SCRUM and JIRA.
• Ability to handle assigned projects to tight timelines.
• Demonstrates ability to perform technical analysis, exercise judgment, communicate with clarity and influence key technical decisions.
• Remains grounded in scientific methods and objective analyses, representing a disciplined engineering approach at all times.
• Maintain an awareness of standard processes in the technology industry and implement forward-looking solutions.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $95,000.00 - 110,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
