We are looking for a VP, Technical Accountant to join the team! This role is responsible for providing technical accounting guidance in compliance with US GAAP in connection with significant business transactions and the implementation of new accounting standards. Liaising with M&A, Legal, Tax, Treasury and divisions, this role will provide insight on the arrangement of transactions, including consolidation assessments.
Overview
Responsible for overseeing the company’s technical accounting function, including providing technical accounting guidance in connection with significant business contracts and M&A activity, the implementation of new accounting standards and coordination of all technical accounting items and quarterly monitoring process across the department and company.
This role reports to the Deputy Controller and have one direct report. This position is located in NYC/Times Square and is hybrid.
Responsibilities
• Provide technical accounting guidance to the Company’s divisions, corporate development team and other corporate functions in connection with significant business transactions, contracts and other accounting issues
• Advise on the structuring of transactions and consult on proposed transactions, including consolidation assessments
• Determine impact of new accounting standards and aid in their implementation and the preparation of disclosures for external reporting
• Assist in accounting-related diligence materials and review of transaction documents in connection with acquisitions and divestitures
• Support completion of purchase accounting for business combinations, including review of internal and 3rd party valuations
• Responsible for quarterly peer reviews and tracking of new accounting regulations
• Oversee the coordination of all technical accounting items to ensure they are completed.
• Directly manage one team member and indirectly manage the allocation of operating activities arising from new technical accounting pronouncement and M&A activities
• Perform quarterly and annual investment impairment assessments
• Advise divisions and corporate groups on accounting for restructuring and other corporate matters, including lease-related actions
• Document accounting conclusions in comprehensive accounting memos
• Preparation of presentations/technical decks for various meetings as needed
• Work with external auditors during quarterly and year end reviews and audits by preparing information requests and addressing inquiries.
Basic Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree required
• CPA required
• 8 years of related work experience
