Vice President, Podcast Editorial (Talk/Entertainment)
The Paramount Podcast Team, a centralized business group within Paramount Global, is in search of an experienced audio creative executive to join as Vice President, Editorial (Entertainment / Talk). An integral part of the Podcast Team, the Editorial VP will lead the development of all editorial curation for entertainment podcasts within the Paramount portfolio. This role will work across multiple brands, including, but not limited to, MTV Entertainment Group, CBS Studios, Showtime, Paramount , and in close collaboration with leads from Production, Marketing, Business Development and other Internal and External Stakeholders. The ideal candidate has a background in genre and fiction scripted work, a creative editorial approach, and well-versed in all forms of audio content and narrative storytelling
Responsibilities
• Lead the entire development process from original pitch to execution for all entertainment podcasts, providing notes in-line with the vision of the projects and franchises
• Work with Executive Producers (and staff) of key shows and franchises to develop and then execute creative strategies
• Field and assess pitches, evaluate new podcast project submissions and provide feedback on their value as it relates to the creative direction
• Own development and maintenance of all current podcasts within the genre
• Create editorial goals and KPIs and connect them to brand, team, and company initiatives
• Work with senior leadership to constantly evolve & refine workflows for the pitch and editorial development process
• Guide creators from the pitch stage through outline, script, production and post; formulates and drafts notes on scripts and cuts
• Collaborate with journalists, show hosts, and other talent and help them develop on-mic skills
• Facilitate regular evaluation and feedback of shows' creative strengths and growth success
• Liaise with all departments including Marketing, Business Development & Strategy, Press, Research, Ad Sales, Business & Legal Affairs, etc. to ensure seamless launch of podcasts
Basic Qualifications
• 10 years of experience in content development & current programming with a significant tenure within either audio production or television production
• Demonstrated track-record developing successful podcast series
• Experience as the showrunner or editorial lead
• Experience leading large distributed editorial team, and cross-functional projects and initiatives
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including working effectively within a collaborative team environment where interfacing with talent and senior executives is necessary
• Ability to multi-task and adapt to a fast-paced, matrixed environment of multiple priorities and partners
• Have a real passion for the podcast space, a great eye for quality content and talent, and strong command of the broader podcast industry landscape and an interest in keeping up to date competitive series
