In This Role You’ll:
The Senior Technical Engineer provides advanced technical support for Paramount's broadcast and media operations. These operations run 24/7 and requires a deep knowledge of systems and useful, hands-on operational skills. You'll support production teams working with media applications, troubleshoot complex technical issues across infrastructure and workflows, and ensure reliable operation of the platforms that power creative and live production. This role blends systems administration with client-facing support, requiring both technical depth and the ability to communicate successfully with production staff.
Basic Qualifications
You Bring:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.
• Strongly proficient in Linux and Windows server environments. This includes building systems, configuring them, hardening security, and optimizing performance.
• 5 years of hands-on experience supporting and maintaining enterprise infrastructure and production systems in 24/7 operational environments.
Bonus Skills:
• Proven ability to provide technical support and guidance to production teams, editors, artists, and end-users. This role requires solid interpersonal skills and tolerance, especially in high-pressure broadcast environments.
• Significant experience with broadcast and media platforms (e.g., Mimir, Avid, VizRT, Telestream, or similar), including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and end-user support.
• Experience with media asset management (MAM) systems. Must understand how media workflows are organized. Troubleshoot issues related to media, including codecs, formats, and transfer protocols.
• Ability to create and deliver technical training, develop user documentation, and build operational runbooks that improve team capability and reduce recurring issues.
• You should be able to lead the response to operational incidents. You will troubleshoot complex issues in both applications and infrastructure. You will also coordinate the resolution with teams from different functions.
• Solid knowledge of networking basics is required. This involves knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, and fixing connectivity problems in media workflows.
• Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., Nutanix, VMware, or equivalent), including configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.
• Experience designing and supporting SAN and NAS storage environments using SMB and NFS for creative and broadcast workloads.
• Demonstrated capability implementing and using monitoring, alerting, and log analysis to support anticipatory detection and root-cause analysis (e.g., Zabbix, New Relic, or similar).
• Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python for automation, troubleshooting, and operational efficiency.
• Experience supporting production databases including MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar systems.
• Hands-on administration of Active Directory, including users, security groups, access controls, and integration with media platforms.
• Ability to manage multiple support requests and projects simultaneously, prioritizing efficiency in a dynamic production environment.
• Willingness and ability to work assigned shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays in a 24/7 operational environment.
• Proficient interpersonal skills. Works well in a team environment. Collaborates successfully with technical and production teams. Communicates clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• You need good documentation skills. This means you will create technical documents. You will also write incident reports and develop operational procedures.
• AI-conscious mindset, with interest in recognizing how AI-assisted tools can support troubleshooting, automation, documentation, and operational efficiency.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, or similar) and hybrid infrastructure concepts is a plus.
• Experience with containerized workloads using Docker or Kubernetes is a plus.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks associated with equipment installation and data center operations.
