OVERVIEW AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
We’re seeking a Senior Manager to join the Creative Music Strategy team, focusing on Promos, Marketing & Branded Content across the MTV Entertainment Group (Paramount Network, BET, MTV, VH1, CMT, Logo, Comedy Central and Smithsonian), Nickelodeon Networks (Nickelodeon & Awesomeness), Pluto TV and Paramount Plus.
The Creative Music Strategy team is a full-service music-focused group that leads music strategy across Paramount brands. Our expertise includes music supervision and licensing, music marketing, music licensing, and music operations. The team partners with content creators to develop the sound of our shows, collaborating with artists, composers, songwriters, record labels, and publishers! We also operate and manage our internal Music Library, our Music Publishing business, audio releases/soundtracks, and external licensing opportunities!
Reporting directly to Senior Director, Creative Music Strategy, you will be an integral part of the team focused on Promos, Marketing & Branded Content. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in music supervision and in music clearances, ideally in the promos and advertising space, and will have excellent relationships within the synch community. You must possess exemplary interpersonal and communication skills as this role requires you to partner effectively across internal divisions and external partners.
• Support SVPs and Senior Director to implement Creative Music Strategy across Promos, Marketing & Branded Content
• Provide creative pitch curation/music supervision for assigned client groups and projects
• Curate music for projects from all sources including commercial music, production library music, and indie / one-stops for assigned client groups and special projects.
• Liaise directly with production teams on music pulls
• Provide other music services such as music budgeting, overall strategy, clearance negotiations, and licensing administration
• Oversee and guide the creation of custom music
• Support and maintain partnerships with external partners including, record labels, publishers, managers, sync shops, composers, and agents
• Work closely and communicate regularly with numerous internal and external groups including Creative Executives, Production, Production Management, the Music and Talent Department, Digital & Social teams, Marketing, PR, Business and Legal Affairs, and external agencies
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• At least 7 years of experience in the field of television/music/entertainment, preferably in a full-service music supervision or music licensing capacity
• Working knowledge of legal concepts related to licensing and music rights
• Strong negotiation skills
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• In-depth knowledge of music, its history, genres, and styles, and must be up to date with current music
• Understanding of the creative and practical needs of creative executives, TV producers, composers, artists, record labels, music publishers, and music administrators
• Strong research skills
• Exceptional project management and organizational skills
• Experience in music supervising & licensing music for promos & ad media
• Experience working with music creators and composers on original music creation
