Job Summary
This position is responsible for performing legal duties as it pertains to the union affiliated population.
Responsibilities
to include, but not limited to:
* Responsible for defending NLRB, EEO and Wage and Hour Cases - interviews witnesses, prepares position statements, appearances at State Labor Commissioner and NLRB proceedings
* Handles grievances and arbitrations filed by unions and guilds
* Negotiates and drafts settlement/severance agreements
* Provides day to day support to productions
* Conducts respectful workplace training sessions
* Assists in drafting and negotiation of collective bargaining agreements
* Advises on contract interpretation issues relating to the collective bargaining agreements
* Performs legal research and advises on personnel issues
* Handles investigations related to personnel issues for union affiliated and production employees including EEO related matters
* Works with and assists in supervising outside counsel in civil litigation matters
* When requested serves as trustee on pension and health plans and on various industry committees relating to affiliated employees
* Implements employment decisions such as disciplinary matters or lay-offs
* Assists in drafting policies for affiliated employees
* Assists in handling pension and health plan audits
Qualifications
/Skills
Basic qualifications:
* JD degree from an accredited Law School. Bar admission required; excellent academic credentials?
* Bachelor's Degree
* Minimum 3 years experience with bargaining agreements and union/management relations
* Minimum 3 years experience in labor and employment field
* Must be proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Desired skills:
* Experience in the entertainment industry is a strong preference
* Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with staff, internal and external contacts and senior management
* Able to work in a fast paced environment, multi-task, prioritize, and manage projects
* Excellent negotiation skills
* Litigation experience a plus
* Knowledge of Federal, state, and local labor and employment laws (EEO, FLSA, etc.)
* Analytical and strategic in formulating solutions
* A motivated self starter who is comfortable taking initiative
