CBS News is seeking a visionary Senior Art Director to define the visual language of one of the most iconic news brands! Seen by millions across broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms, CBS News represents trusted journalism and bold storytelling–and this role is your chance to leave a creative mark on its next chapter!

In this role, you will lead high-profile design initiatives for breaking news, primetime specials, and live election coverage, blending cinematic motion graphics with innovative techniques. Your work will be at the center of historic events, shaping how audiences experience news in the moment and remember it for years to come. You will report to the Director of Creative and Editing Operations and collaborate closely with senior creative leadership, show-specific Art Directors, and editorial teams to deliver industry-leading design across the Paramount ecosystem. Leading a group of world-class motion designers, you will foster a culture of creative excellence, collaboration, and forward-thinking innovation in one of the most fast-paced environments in media.

Key Responsibilities:
• Partner with leadership to build the visual identity across CBS News shows and platforms.
• Implement creative development for high-impact packages including special events, primetime news programs, and Paramount collaborations.
• Integrate AR/VR and immersive storytelling into CBS News productions, pushing the boundaries of modern visual journalism.
• Provide creative direction for title opens, transitions, and animated storytelling elements.
• Turn concepts into striking storyboards and presentations that win hearts and greenlights.
• Lead and mentor a team of motion designers, ensuring projects meet creative standards and production timelines.
• Ensure all graphics reflect CBS News’ brand sensibility and adapt quickly to the demands of the news cycle.
• Coordinate template execution and customized graphic integration for broadcast.
• Support workflow optimization, including graphics systems and production efficiencies.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with editorial producers, writers, editors, and control room staff.

Required Qualifications
• 10 years of experience as a motion graphics designer in live television news, sports, digital, or streaming environments.
• Expert proficiency in After Effects, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Cinema 4D (or similar 3D applications).
• Strong understanding of editorial workflows and newsroom culture, including control room dynamics.
• Proven excellence in kinetic typography, motion logic, and design aesthetics.
• Experience leading teams in high-volume, fast paced environments.
• Solid knowledge of broadcast video codecs and file standards.
• Available to work adaptable hours as news coverage demands.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with AR/VR graphics, Viz Artist, and Chyron systems.
• Passion for pioneering new forms of broadcast and digital storytelling.
• A portfolio that reflects cinematic, editorially driven design at the highest level.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $165,000.00 - 200,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
