
Principal Engineer, Broadcast Production Systems

In This Role You’ll:
We at Paramount Skydance are looking for a Principal Engineer, Production Systems! Within this team, you will join a group that designs, installs, and debugs various Broadcast Production systems. These include Audio, Video, Control, and IT related to broadcast equipment. As the Principal Engineer, you will be a critical resource, crafting and supporting everything needed to put together a show at our historic broadcast center!
Responsibilities Include:
• Design and support in-house video, audio and control systems.
• Support maintenance department for problem-solving and repair of above-mentioned systems.
• Maintain network and system documentation.
• Conform to CBS security policies, initiatives, and compliance reporting.
• Supervision of project as relates to wiring technicians is required.
Basic Qualifications
You Bring:
• In depth knowledge of broadcast systems: compressed and uncompressed audio formats and video formats, with understanding of SMPTE 2110 IP design and implementation; production control systems commonly used in complex production control rooms for live and non-live applications.
• Basic understanding of networking, subnetting, and VLAN implementation.
• Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Vizio.
• Deep technical knowledge of current broadcast systems software, protocols, and standards.
• Proven understanding of network administration.
• Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience.
• Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information.
Bonus Skills:
• College diploma or University degree in the field of Electrical or Broadcast engineering or a minimum of 7 years of equivalent work experience.
• Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to optimally prioritize and complete tasks in a fast paced environment.
• Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Ability to conduct research into hardware and software issues and products as required.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
