Overview and Responsibilities:
Paramount Tech is hiring a 403g Media Maintenance Technician in Production Technology and Operations. This position is responsible for performing engineering maintenance and technical support for video editors, graphic designers, social media producers, content ingest operators, QC operators, and other content creators, ensuring minimal disruption to production workflows which support the CBS Network and affiliated production units. This role will design, implement, and support next-generation media systems and infrastructure, both on-premises and in the cloud, and provide proactive monitoring and maintenance to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of systems in a 24x7 critical broadcast environment.
This role is responsible for a wide range of broadcast and media production systems, including (but not limited to): SDI and SMPTE ST 2110 video routing systems, Avid editorial systems, Pro Tools audio production environments, JAMF-based endpoint management, media transcoding and automated QC platforms, Windows and Linux system administration, application servers and SQL databases, on-premises NAS and cloud storage systems, cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud), high-speed file transfer systems (Aspera, Signiant), internet streaming and encoding platforms, identity and authentication systems (Active Directory / SSO), and monitoring/observability platforms (Zabbix, New Relic).
Basic Qualifications
• 5 years' experience supporting and optimizing end-to-end media workflows (ingest, transcoding, QC, delivery) across on-prem and cloud environments, with strong knowledge of video/audio formats, codecs, and containers.
• Experience supporting professional post-production environments, with hands-on expertise in Avid (Media Composer, Interplay, MediaCentral) and Pro Tools, including troubleshooting, system maintenance, and workflow optimization.
• Advanced knowledge of Windows and Linux administration in production environments (on-prem and public cloud), including deploying and supporting complex media processing applications. Must include experience with identity and access management (e.g., Active Directory integration), configuring networked services (e.g., shared storage, databases, or clustered applications), and troubleshooting distributed system issues in complex environments.

• Deep understanding of professional video and audio standards, including:
• Resolutions and formats (1080i, 1080p, HDR)
• Color science (color space, rec.709, HLG, PQ)
• Timecode and frame rates
• Codecs and compression
• Audio formats (PCM, 5.1 surround, Dolby Atmos)
• Container formats (MXF, transport stream)
• Ability to diagnose and resolve workflow issues across multi-vendor media systems and distributed processing environments.
• Familiarity with color space conversion and HDR/SDR interoperability.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve HDR pipeline issues.
• Hands-on experience supporting media processing and workflow orchestration platforms such as Telestream Vantage and Interra Baton.
• Experience supporting high-performance file transfer and delivery systems such as IBM Aspera and Signiant.
• Hands-on experience administering and supporting JAMF in an enterprise Mac environment.
• Advanced technical expertise with Avid Media Composer, Interplay, and MediaCentral (ACSR certification or equivalent experience preferred).
• Experience supporting or working within Dolby Atmos production environments in Pro Tools-based workflows.
• Experience with scripting and automation using tools such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools and best practices, such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience implementing and maintaining monitoring and observability solutions such as Zabbix, Splunk, or New Relic.
• In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and secure system design.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across engineering, operations, and creative stakeholders.
• Strong documentation discipline, including the ability to produce and maintain clear, accurate technical documentation.
Salary/Benefits
