Overview and Responsibilities:
CBS News and Stations is seeking a Human Resources Manager to join our Dallas/Fort Worth businesses (including CBS11, TXA21, the CBS News DFW streaming channel and CBSDFW.com) in providing local HR support to all employees.
Responsibilities
include providing practical and strategic advice on a wide variety of areas to enhance the staff’s engagement, performance, and overall experience.
The Human Resources Manager will specifically focus on the following duties including, but not limited to:
• Serve as Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to all full time, part time, freelance and per diem employees at CBS DFW, as well as the DFW-based CW and Independent News team
• Connect with staff and serve as a resource by providing realâ€time guidance and support
• Assess staff engagement and morale; reinforce mission and values and culture in ways that support business objectives; ensure employee programs support “The Three C’sâ€
• Act as trusted advisor and resource to Station management, including General Manager, department heads and people managers
• Manage/coordinate new hire orientation experience and general onboarding for newly hired team members
• Liaise with Payroll, Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition and other COEs as needed for all employee-related matters and processes
• In partnership with VP HR, provide counsel to people managers and employees on employee relations matters; field and resolve general performance management issues; determine underlying issues, brainstorm on solutions, document process and follow up as needed
• Partner with internal HR partners on implementing performance management tools and resources
• Identify, recommend, and coordinate individual and group training and learning/development opportunities as needed
• Partner effectively with the Employee Relations team for investigations into harassment, discrimination, or other complex or sensitive allegations
• At the direction of the VP HR, partner with Employment Law on performance issues, staffing change/termination requests, and incidentâ€based behavioral concerns, as needed
• Ensure that station is FCC compliant including but not limited to maintaining all applicable records, attending FCC required job fairs, and hosting required internships
Basic Qualifications:
• 5 years of HRBP/Employee Relations experience, preferably in a news, entertainment, media, or other related environment preferred
• Proven track record of quickly building trust and earning respect
• Able to work in a fastâ€paced, everâ€changing environment where time is of the essence
• General flexibility in work hours to support business operations
Additional Qualifications:
• SHRM-CP or PHR Certification a plus!
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Previous Local News Station HR experience preferred
• Proven knowledge of employment laws and sound HR principles
• Effective business partner with ability to build trust, influence senior management and drive organizational efficiency
• Demonstrated ability to deliver client-focused HR solutions to business problems
• Strategic problem solver with the ability to tactically translate ideas to workable solutions
• Proven good judgment and ability to work autonomously or as part of high-functioning team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• High level of interpersonal and diplomacy skills
