Overview:
Paramount is seeking a well-versed Director of Awards Publicity to support the platform's awards recognition strategy through strategic media campaigns and targeted pitching.
The Director of Awards Publicity will report to the SVP of Awards & Talent Relations and will be tasked with developing and executing publicity strategies that amplify Paramount titles during awards season. This role requires deep expertise in entertainment journalism, awards coverage, and the ability to craft compelling narratives that position content and talent for industry recognition. This position sits at the intersection of awards strategy and publicity execution, requiring someone who can translate awards campaign goals into earned media results. The Director will pitch awards-focused stories, manage relationships with awards journalists and pundits, coordinate talent interviews during awards season, and assist in awards submissions.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Develop and execute publicity strategies that support awards campaigns across all major voting bodies including Television Academy (Emmys), Golden Globes, Critics' Choice Awards, SAG Awards, and guilds.
• Partner with title publicity leads to align campaign publicity efforts with overall awards positioning and campaign narratives, identifying key moments throughout awards season for impactful media coverage.
• Craft compelling narratives and messaging frameworks that elevate contenders' profiles and serve awards campaign goals.
• Partner with SVP on strategic media buying and integrated press planning to reach targeted voter and media audiences.
• Secure strategic media placements in key outlets including Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, Gold Derby, Awards Daily, and mainstream consumer press.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with awards journalists, columnists, and industry tastemakers.
• Monitor awards media landscape and identify emerging coverage opportunities.
• Coordinate interview requests with talent representatives and manage media logistics during awards season.
• Collaborate closely with internal Publicity, Marketing, Creative, Events, and Content teams to ensure integrated campaign execution.
• Partner with awards consultants and agencies to align media strategy with broader campaign goals.
• Support development of screening events and FYC activations with publicity components.
• Partner with Manager on maintaining awards calendar and communicating dates, nominations, ceremony details, etc. to internal and external partners.
• Manage day-to-day logistics during awards season including screenings, Q&As, and events.
• Track awards budget expenditures including submission fees, consultant fees, screening costs, and FYC materials.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field required.
• 7 years of progressive experience in entertainment publicity with significant awards focus.
• Experience in creating strategies for awards publicity.
• Experience in managing relationships with the media.
• Solid portfolio of awards campaigns that achieved measurable media coverage and industry recognition.
• Deep knowledge of awards landscape including Emmy, Golden Globe, SAG, Critics Choice processes and timelines.
• Experience working with high-profile talent, creators, and their representatives during awards season.
• Ability to work evenings, holidays, and weekends during peak awards season.
• Track record of securing strategic coverage in Variety, THR, Deadline, and specialty awards outlets.
