Overview and Responsibilities:
This is a hands-on technical role responsible for maintaining the operational integrity of both cloud-based and on-premises broadcast playout systems within a major Network Operations Center. The ideal candidate will ensure that all broadcast and IT infrastructure components are operating at the highest level of performance and reliability. This role includes performing regular maintenance, solving issues, and assisting with day-to-day operations as instructed by supervisors, while following established guidelines and standards in the industry.
Responsibilities Include:
• Provide technical support for all Broadcast Services infrastructure, playout systems, cloud environments, and streaming technologies to ensure seamless operational continuity across Paramount Global broadcast services and affiliated client networks. This role is critical in maintaining infrastructure health, signal path integrity, and end-to-end media quality.
• Support and maintain next-generation software-defined video networks, with working knowledge of IP-based media transport protocols such as SMPTE ST 2110 and SMPTE ST 2022.
• Create and maintain clear, detailed user documentation including standard operating procedures, incident reports, system configurations, and issue guides.
• Use a range of broadcast and IT tools (e.g., packet analyzers, waveform monitors, Dataminer) to troubleshoot and resolve issues in both IP and baseband signal domains.
• Collaborate effectively with internal teams on technical initiatives and provide timely status updates, ensuring alignment with project timelines and service-level expectations.
• Finish all technical work with corresponding documentation, ensuring traceability and alignment to operational standards.
• Advance critical service-impacting incidents to Paramount management promptly and accurately, following incident response protocols.
• Work closely with Engineering teams to receive and integrate new deployments, including documentation handover and participation in operational training sessions.
• Configure and solve complex broadcast playout systems, including baseband video/audio workflows, compression/encoding platforms, multiplexers, and RF transmission systems.
• Conduct diagnostic and configuration tasks on broadcast hardware, datacenter infrastructure, networking gear, and associated support systems.
• Manage multiple concurrent, high-priority assignments using strong organizational and planning skills in a dynamic, 24/7 broadcast environment.
• Interpret and apply system schematics, signal flow diagrams, and engineering documentation to quickly identify and resolve system failures under pressure.
• Collaborate with Paramount's L1–L3 support tiers for incident resolution, while contributing to documentation and knowledge-sharing to enhance support team efficiency.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience), with hands-on scripting or API development skills using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar tools
• At least one foundational IT certification such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, CCNA, MCP, CompTIA A /Network , or VMware Associate
• Minimum 2 years of experience in an IT or Broadcast Media environment, with the ability to quickly learn and apply engineering-level knowledge across complex broadcast and IT infrastructure systems

• Familiarity with audio/video technologies, including live and on-demand media workflows
• Working knowledge of datacenter operations and support standard processes
• Experience with Live, Linear, VOD, OTT (Over-the-Top), and simulcast delivery technologies
• Proficiency with project and product management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow)
• Hands-on experience with Linux operating systems in a technical environment
• Solid understanding of the TCP/IP protocol suite and OSI networking model
• Knowledge of virtualized environments and cloud-based infrastructures (e.g., AWS, Azure, VMware)
• Willingness to learn and support broadcast transmission technologies and specialized system profiles
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $80,000.00 - 95,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
