Overview and Responsibilities
• Lead a diverse slate of productions and channel programming initiatives across a broad range of formats and genres including Unscripted, Format, Multi-cam and Studio Programming and Development
• Partner with Development/Creative teams on the creative process. Be a key partner alongside senior level creative colleagues to ensure that the creative vision is delivered and produced successfully while meeting all creative, operational, schedule and financial targets
• Work with VP and SVP to lead the team of Directors, Managers and Coordinators as well as project-based production hires
• Develop and delegate projects to the team to help grow, evolve and motivate their professional development
• Build strong relationships with 3rd party production counterparts to collaborate and produce quality content
• Communicate network expectations to 3rd party partners and manage ongoing relationship with their production executives
• Source, hire and manage teams of project-based production personnel
• Work with Production teams to successfully implement project timelines, budgets, financial reporting. Establish clear targets and goals, working with various department across multiple groups, vendors, contractors, and outside production companies
• Keep up with industry and internal Viacom channel trends as they may influence or enhance best business practices with a focus on stellar production standards
• Work as a creative problem solver to identify efficiencies and innovative ideas that benefit productions and the department
• Collaborate with Business and Legal Affairs and Finance to come up with creative solutions that are in line with Network expectations while satisfying the creative needs
• Working knowledge of union and guild practices
• Partner with Finance teams in reporting, adjusting EFCs and cash flows as well as finalizing actuals for series, special projects and development
• Work with internal and external teams to foster, manage and enhance relationships with all departments - Legal, Production and Network Finance, Talent, Risk Management, Music & Media Licensing, Standards & Practices, Production Safety, Brand Creative, Marketing, Digital and Social, Viacom Security, Core Services, Planning & Design
• Continually evaluate how our department functions and how we can be more efficient, evolve to meet company mandates and programming changes
• Keep the VP updated on topline issues and have an understanding of issues that must be elevated
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 10 years experience in Production/Production Management in a network or production company capacity
• Experience managing and leading teams, dealing with performance related feedback and leadership
• High tolerance for a fast paced/changing environment and ability to be a pro-active team player
• Works well under pressure and with moving deadlines
• Strong Production financials and budgeting expertise (including Move Magic Budgeting, Excel)
• Strong knowledge of Hands-on Production (in-house) as well as the 3rd party production company landscape and personnel
• Extensive organizational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Demonstrate the ability to be a diplomatic and impactful communicator
