The Projectionist is a full-time position responsible for projecting Digital and Film media formats within our internal theater. This includes after hours private screenings and bi-weekly employee screenings that will involve late working hours and weekends at times. This person will also work closely with high-profile clients on test screenings to assist with Technical Marketing and product application needs. The projectionist will coordinate the schedule and monitoring of all activities held in the theater, and work closely with the Operations Department to assist with Film projection requirements.
This position requires projection experience using Barco 2K, Christie 4K, and 35mm/70mm print projection on Strong and Norelco models. PC and Mac OS proficiency using SAN/IMB/NAS hardware integration required. In addition, the person will be developing B&W 35mm negative to use for test projection.
The position requires someone who can work independently, communicate well and be able to solve technical problems quickly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
• Screen internal tests, assisting client requests for basic color adjustment viewing.
• Inspect movie prints to ensure that they are complete and in good condition before projecting.
• Perform r0utine projector maintenance tasks such as replacing xenon bulbs, cleaning lenses, lubricating machinery, and keeping cable management clean and tight. Assist sub-contractors on scheduled projector repairs.
• Developing 35mm B&W film and maintenance of Film lab.
• Install and connect auxiliary equipment, such as microphones, amplifiers, and/or playback machines.
• Troubleshoot and identify equipment issues, software and firmware updates and facilitate repairs through our repair department.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation as defined by management and per health and safety standards.
Skills/Experience Required:
• Experience in PC/Mac network file-sharing, formatting, drive test and analysis (including RAID setups).
• Proficiency in Windows 10, MS Office and Mac OS.
• General knowledge of digital cinema cameras, recorders and all related products preferred.
• Understanding of on-set production, media management and data workflow preferred.
• Experience with Resolve software preferred.
• Experience in 35mm film projection and processing film with a B&W developer.
• Experience in digital media projection with Barco and Christie systems.
• Ability to work under pressure with strict time constraints while maintaining high performance standards.
• Ability to remain flexible, multi-task and prioritize and work on own initiative.
• Effective client service and interpersonal skills.
• Effective organizational skills and ability to pay attention to detail.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This job operates in a warehouse environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and reach with hands and arms. The employee may also be required to lift product or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Prompt and regular attendance is required, employees are expected to begin work at the start of their scheduled shift and to complete their assigned work shift according to the responsibilities of their position.
This position works standard business hours, but may require long hours and some weekend work.
Travel:
Some out-of-state/country and overnight travel may be expected.
