Job Scope
The Prep Technician is responsible for assisting customers and providing technical support in prepping equipment.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain all working functions of the prep floor, prep rooms, inventory storage, darkrooms and any prep related areas.
• Pull and perform pre-prep quality check of equipment prior to customer arriving.
• Address Intercompany equipment transfers daily.
• Expedite all time sensitive orders (emergency, air freight, UPS, Fed-Ex and am/pm runs).
• Inform manager of any prep-related issues (e.g. equipment shortages prior to customer arriving).
• Provide direct technical support and customer service on Panavision equipment.
• Field technical calls regarding equipment functions and specifications.
• Physically deliver equipment to and from departments.
• Maintain a neat and organized prep area per Panavision's health and safety standards.
• Uphold and follow safety guidelines and precautions to prevent injuries and accidents.
• Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Experience Required
• Basic knowledge of film production or prior experience in film production.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Panavision equipment rental inventory.
• Extensive working knowledge of Panavision cameras, lenses and accessories.
• Comprehensive understanding of the functionality of Panavision equipment and the ability to demonstrate gear.
• Understanding of Panavision equipment maintenance (servicing, troubleshooting and storage).
• Understanding of Panavision's health and safety standards and requirements.
Health & Safety Requirements
• Safe handling of solvents and other chemicals.
• Safe handling of sharp and other potentially dangerous equipment.
• Knowledge of current electrical safety standards.
• Enforcement and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) if required.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This job operates in a professional office environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively with both internal and external clients. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and reach with hands and arms. The employee may also be required to lift product or equipment weighing up to 75 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This position works standard business hours (from 9:00am to 6:00pm) but may require overtime hours and some weekend work.
Travel
Some out-of-state/country and overnight travel may be expected.
