Intern as Producer's Assistant Job Description
Are you interested in social media short video production or filmmaking in general? Are you interested in learning how to develop projects from conceptualization to visualization to audience attraction?
We are a film and TV company in both Beijing and L.A. focused on producing high quality content for both Chinese and American market. We're now developing a short video series for social media and seeking an intern to assist our producer to produce the video series.
- good research skills
- experienced in using social media and gaining exposure on platforms like Youtube, Instagram and Tiktok/Douyin
- have strong interest in filmmaking
- a self-starting and self-motivated individual
- experience with PowerPoint and Photoshop, and simple video editing a plus
- some creative writing experience is a plus
- fluency in Chinese and English is a plus, but not a must
Your primary responsibilities:?
- research content of the short video series
- assist in drafting the verbal content of the series
- coordinate production and development of the series
What you can get from the internship:
- close observation of how to develop and produce a video project from scratch to launch
- building relationships with both American and Chinese industry professionals
- credits on the projects produced during the internship
Internship starts immediately for 3 months. Most work will be conducted at home.
The internship is unpaid. Part-time or full time job opportunity may be offered after internship.
About Palette Pictures
Palette Pictures was founded by Bai Yu in Los Angeles, focusing on producing content for the Chinese and American markets.
The company produced a 14-episode documentary series, Oceans Away, which was commissioned by CCTV and shot in six cities across America.
Afterwards, Palette Pictures co-presented the feature film Day of Redemption and produced several award-winning short film series.
Palette developed and co-presented the web TV series, THE SUBSTITUTE with iQIYI, the largest web TV portal in China. Bai Yu, Founder & President
A Beijing native, Bai Yu is an actress-turned writer, director and producer. She holds a MFA degree in Producing at California Institute of the Arts.
As the founder of Palette Pictures, Bai Yu is focused on collaborating with U.S. filmmakers to develop and produce Hollywood-style genre films and high quality TV series for Chinese audience with international appeal.
In 2008, Bai Yu created, produced and directed OCEANS AWAY«????», a 14-episode CCTV documentary series focusing on the lives of Chinese students and entrepreneurs in the U.S.
In 2013, Bai Yu produced and Starred in the feature film DAY OF REDEMPTION, starring Zhou Yumin.
Bai Yu also produced over 50 short films, won a Best Picture Award at the Beijing Intl' Short Film Festival in 2014.
In 2015, as actress and producer, Bai Yu co-directed and wrote the TV series THE SUBSTITUTE commissioned by iQIYI.
2018 represented Bai Yu's foray into fiction writing. She co-authored sci-fi novel, THE AWAKENED («??») won the first place of the full-length novel award at the Water Droplet Awards, which was co-presented by Tencent and the China Science Writers Association.
Prior to her study in the US, Bai Yu won the ''Best New Personality Award'' in China and was a lead actress in CCTV co-production series.
Sun Chan Head, Development & Production
Sun grew up in Hong Kong and was educated in at the University of Southern California U.S. as a filmmaker.
Sun produced and wrote the feature film, Day of Redemption. He also co-wrote and co-directed the popular web TV series THE SUBSTITUTE, which received 400 million hits 40 days after launch.
Prior to his creative ventures, Sun had studied economics at Yale University.
