ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for a hands-on accountant to join our finance team on a temporary basis (1-3 months). This role is focused mainly on AP, AR, and other transactional accounting, with some light general ledger support, helping our accounting team. It's a great fit for someone with solid transactional experience and a working knowledge of accounting fundamentals, who can pick up new processes quickly and work collaboratively.
A DAY IN THE LIFE
•Accounts payable: Process vendor invoices, including coding, matching, and routing for approval. Prepare payment runs and maintain vendor records.
•Accounts receivable: Prepare and send customer invoices, apply cash receipts, and follow up on past-due balances.
•Maintain financial records: Input and update financial data in accounting software and spreadsheets accurately and on time.
•Reconciliations: Reconcile bank, credit card, and AP/AR accounts, and research and resolve discrepancies.
•General ledger support: Assist with basic journal entries, such as accruals and reclasses, and help with account reconciliations as needed.
•Month-end close: Support close by completing assigned transactional tasks, reconciliations, and simple journal entries on schedule.
•Compliance: Follow company policies and internal controls, and keep documentation organized and complete.
•Collaborate with other departments: Work closely with the finance team and other departments to answer questions and gather information.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE
•2-3 years of hands-on AP, AR, or transactional accounting experience.
•Associate degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
•Good understanding of basic accounting principles and concepts, and how transactions flow to the GL.
•Exposure to journal entries and general ledger reconciliations is a plus.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working in an ERP or accounting system (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks). NetSuite experience is a plus.
•Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
•Ability to learn new processes quickly and work independently once trained.
•Good organizational and time management skills.
•Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
•Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Salary/Benefits
$25-$30 an hour
