This is a Full Time Unpaid Internship
Internship Term: Summer 2026 (May - August)
Internship Location: on-site in Indianapolis, IN
Anticipated Time Commitment: approximately 30 - 40 hours per week
The Team
Our Technology team builds, implements, and operates solutions that cover the entirety of the Business Operations unit of Pacers Sports & Entertainment, in addition to Basketball Operations for the Indiana Fever. We are looking to hire a Data Analytics Intern who will play a significant role in rearchitecting the company's data infrastructure with the latest and greatest platforms and tools in addition to driving data adoption and usage throughout the company.
The Position
The Data Analytics Intern will be joining the Technology team to reimagine not only how data is governed, organized, and structured, but how it can help bring the company answers. The Data Analytics Intern will be a member of a data-focused team which builds data infrastructure, pipelines, visualizations, and a variety of solutions to drive analytics and uncover the stories hidden within data.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsibilities are subject to change according to the interests of the selected candidate, we are happy to allow you to explore Data Analytics, Engineering, and Science.
• Actively develop Data Models to assist and evolve the integration of new datasets into the ''Lakehouse''
• Develop machine learning models to automate and / or support operations across the organization
• Monitor and improve automated solutions to ensure data quality and performance standards are upheld
• Analyze source APIs, new and existing data schemas, and the overall data ecosystem to define capabilities
• Evaluate data sources, implement SaaS ELT solutions when appropriate, and recommend bespoke solutions when required
• Contribute to and actively maintain the company's internal documentation platform.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications
• Currently pursuing a bachelor's / master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative major.
• Non-related majors will be considered for the role but will be expected to fill in additional background and interests during interviews.
• Exposure to at least one programming language (Python, R, Java, etc.) and SQL.
• Exposure to Data Visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.)
• Exposure to Git or similar version control solutions.
• Familiarity with data processing libraries (Pandas, NumPy, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
• Exposure to / experience with a major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.)
• Exposure to / experience with ETL or ELT tools and technologies (Databricks, Snowflake, etc.)
• Exposure to / experience with Data Modeling and Transformation Tools (dbt, Delta Live Tables, etc.)
• Exposure to / experience with APIs (REST, GraphQL, SOAP, etc.)
• Exposure to / experience with a variety of datatypes and structures (JSON, CSV, NoSQL, Relational, etc.)
• Exposure to / experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.)

While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate and the noise level in the Fieldhouse / game environment is usually loud. The stress level may become high during certain times of the year.
