This is a Full Time Job
The Corporate Communications and Media Relations Manager for Pacers Sports & Entertainment works with the PS&E communications, Pacers Foundation and community engagement, facilities operations, digital, marketing, and other departments to promote a positive image of the organization, both nationally and locally, to the media, partners, fans and the general public. This position will have responsibility for writing press releases, assisting in the planning and execution of press conferences, media availabilities, and other events, and help develop other written messages and presentations for internal and external audiences, in addition to attending weekend and evening events. The major accountabilities of the position are: helping to garner positive ongoing press coverage and earned media throughout the state for PS&E activities and events; coordinating engagements, speaking opportunities, events, and campaigns that increase brand equity and public engagement; and writing and generating content, as needed. In addition, this position needs to be detail oriented, organized, have excellent communication skills (both writing and building strong working relationships) and the ability to work a flexible schedule.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop strategic communications for PS&E events and activities.
• Act as a liaison between PS&E and media.
• Assistant in the development of the PS&E Annual Report.
• Provide information to media outlets by generating news releases and articles, arranging press conferences, and acting as a media liaison to disseminate information to inform and educate the public.
• Arrange and implement public relations programs that maintain ongoing contact between organization representatives and the public.
• Create opportunities for placement of press releases, media appearances, and speaking opportunities to promote PS&E events and activities.
• Write press releases on varied topics to portray appropriate messaging and tone and ensure the organization is shown in the most positive light.
• Arrange and coordinate public appearances and speaking engagements for PS&E leaders to generate awareness and interest from a variety of external audiences.
• Find opportunities to create messaging and earn media coverage for Pacers Foundation success stories, investments and impacts, programs, and events and activities.
• Coordinate with the digital media team to write web copy for articles, social media updates, newsletters and promotional materials.
• Act as the media liaison and issue press releases for Gainbridge Fieldhouse events and concerts and assist with events, when needed.
• Coordinate, including hands on work for various publications (team media guide, team game program, and newsletters).
• Monitor media coverage and fulfill media queries for information.
• Continual development of creative ideas for media stories, blog posts, events, and other promotional efforts.
• Coordinate with various departments to ensure messaging and media communications are managed appropriately and to achieve maximum benefit for the organization.
• Ability to work effectively and exercise good judgement in a fast paced, deadline oriented, and at times high stress environment.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
• At least 3 years of experience in public relations or related field. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience is acceptable.
• Knowledge of public relations programs
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Employee should have a knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Powerpoint, and Microsoft Word. Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret instructions and reports. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential for this position.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret directions.
PROBLEM SOLVING REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to make independent decisions.
