Sports Researcher (Freelance)
In-studio and remote support for Pac-12 Football, Men's Basketball, Baseball/Softball games, and studio programming in real-time talent requests, social media/digital needs, and more.
Expected to work Tuesday-Saturday through the Pac-12 fall, winter, and spring sports seasons. Candidates will also work special events including special shows like Signing Days, Football Championship Game, Bowl Games, Pac-12, and NCAA men's basketball tournaments. Projected start date: ASAP Projected end date: June 22, 2022
Responsibilities:
- Reports to Director of Content Production & Research Manager
- Coordinates with the game and studio show producers & short-form content creators about present and future statistical needs
- Works directly with on-air game and studio talent for all Pac-12 Football and Men's basketball games and studio programming to provide essential information regarding Pac-12 games and student-athletes
- Point person for all studio/remotes research requests for football and basketball studio days and other specialty sports programming
-Create and publish real-time scoring, statistics, news updates and notes for the Pac-12 Network tickers. Coordinates with Remote Coordinating Producer on programming alerts for the ticker.
-Provide research support for Pac-12 Conference Communications and Athletics Media Relations departments from all 12 member schools
- Supplies game statistical storylines/background information for all remote and studio production staff
- Supplies statistical storylines for all production staff
- Assists Research Manager with weekly football, men's basketball, baseball/softball stat packets
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Prior work experience in a Research, Journalist, Sports Information, or TV Production role
- Experience in a sports media environment
- Passionate about Pac-12 and collegiate sports with deep knowledge of college football and basketball
- Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational, and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills; good judgment and ability to interact with different levels of management and teams
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize under time constraints and work successfully and accurately in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive in addressing potential needs and storylines
- Experience working in a culturally diverse organization and supporting the values held by our unique employees, clients, sponsors, university faculty, and fans
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Apps (Gmail, Google Docs, Calendar), and Slack.
