At the Pac-12, we love sports and technology! The Senior Director, Broadcast Infrastructure and Technology is a key member of our Engineering & Technology leadership team. You will be responsible for cloud & on-prem infrastructure, video contribution & corporate networks, broadcast & enterprise systems, storage, architecture, and IT. This position requires a candidate that has the ability to leverage their broad expertise and go hands-on, while also setting strategic direction and keeping the team focused on the organization’s objectives and key results.
Pac-12 Networks is renowned for pioneering IP-based remote television production over our 10Gb network that connects almost 100 venues across all Pac-12 schools to our production studios in downtown San Francisco. Further, we have been recognized as leaders in the broadcast industry for our approach to leveraging the cloud in broadcast workflows.

Responsibilities:
• Own roadmap for the Infrastructure and Technology Group.
• Lead the implementation, testing, and post-launch support of cross-functional broadcast and enterprise projects.
• Supervise the management of systems & networking, campus events & infrastructure, and IT teams, responsible for:
• Broadcast infrastructure - production control rooms, editing systems, storage, media asset management, codecs, and other broadcast technologies.
• Enterprise Infrastructure - AWS, Configuration management and continuous deployment platforms, VM & container infrastructure, web and data infrastructure, monitoring, and our on-prem data center.
• Network Infrastructure - corporate and broadcast contribution networks, VPN, AWS direct connect, private fiber, Internet2, diverse DIAs, etc.
• Enterprise Applications - Wideorbit, Scheduall, Great Plains, etc.
• IT Service & Support - Mac & PC deployment & support, printer support, G Suite, Active Directory, JAMF, telephony, device inventory management, etc.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to staff to ensure that team members grow technically and professionally.
• Manage Infrastructure & Technology budgets, capital planning, expense tracking, purchasing, and vendor relationships.
• Availability to participate, respond to and manage 24x7 responses to emergency facility needs.
• Represent the Pac-12 Engineering Department to external parties including, universities, vendors, and professional associations.
Requirements:
• Minimum of 10 years of hands-on technical experience, with 5 years of experience in a leadership capacity within an Engineering or Technical organization.
• Demonstrable expertise with the following technologies:
• Cloud: AWS including account provisioning and management, EC2, RDS, S3, Glacier, ELB, EFS, Fargate, Lambda, Direct Connect, Media Services, Cloudwatch, etc
• Tiered storage solutions: S3, Glacier, Isilon, VNX, Nimble, and Swiftstack
• Media Asset management systems: Dalet, Evertz, etc
• Encoding Technology: Nevion, Elemental, T-21, Harmonic
• Television Production Hardware & Software: Vizrt, Chyron, Evertz, EVS.
• Configuration management, continuous delivery, monitoring: Ansible, Puppet, Chef, CircleCI, Jenkins, Zabbix, Nagios, New Relic, etc
• Network management - Cisco, Juniper, SolarWinds
• Enterprise Applications - Wideorbit, Scheduall, Great Plains, etc.
• IT - MacOS, Windows, CentOS, Ubuntu, G Suite, Active Directory, SSO JAMF, Cisco VOIP systems, A/V, and IPTV.
• Ability to plan and prioritize under time constraints and work successfully in a fast-paced environment. Manage multiple projects simultaneously and complete them on schedule.
• Able to delegate responsibilities to maximize team and individual contributions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of people, technical and non-technical employees, peers, internal and external clients, vendors, and senior management.
• Ability to be on-call 24-hours to provide support for staff and escalated trouble issues.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other related fields.
• A love of sports, entertainment, and a great sense of humor.
• Some travel required.
Preferred:
• Experience with television broadcast and production systems, equipment and operations.
• Broad AWS, DevOps, and software-defined infrastructure experience.
• Understanding of Video/Audio compression technologies.
• Experience with transport of video over IP on LAN and WAN infrastructures.
• Experience in Project Management and leading project teams.
