The Programming Manager - Live Events oversees the creation, development, and management of the Pac-12 Networks live event schedule. The Programming Manager - Live Events will critically analyze live event selections to drive viewership and engagement while maximizing cost-efficiency in addition to collaborating with senior-level administrators at the Pac-12 Conference and all Pac-12 institutions to optimize exposure while maintaining student-athlete welfare.
• Strategically analyze live event selections and maximize cost-efficiency of live events budget in collaboration with Senior Production Operations Staff.
• Implement key research metrics and findings into the Live Event count allocation process in collaboration with Research and Data teams.
• Lead selection of Men's Basketball event draft process and assist in Football event draft process inclusive of proposing schedules, determining kick and tip times, and other Sales and Operational aspects.
• Manage real-time feedback process from Pac-12 Institutions including oversight of feedback and communication with Senior administrators.
• Ownership of Live Event Schedule from creation through implementation. Drive selection and communication timeline with Pac-12 Institutions in collaboration with Pac-12 Conference / Networks Communications staff. Ensure all schedule updates and changes within Uber Schedule for Pac-12 Networks televised events throughout the year.
• Interface with Senior Women's Administrators on each campus regarding event timing, facility conflicts, production/operational challenges, and education on broadcast administration.
• Work closely with Pac-12 Conference Sport Management Staff to preserve student-athlete welfare (rest and travel), fan attendance, and Olympic event broadcast exposure as part of the schedule creation process.
• Lead acquisition of NCAA Postseason events interfacing with NCAA Broadcast Administrators, Production Operations, Sport Management, and Pac-12 Institutions – balancing available broadcast windows, available production operations resources, and NCAA media requirements.
• Ensure accuracy and assist in the maintenance of information in Uber Schedule, Conference-wide event scheduling system, in collaboration with Uber scheduling and product team.
• Oversee programming schedules for two regional networks including the creation of schedules plus entry and maintenance of schedules within scheduling software system.
• Engage external organizations about acquiring rights to live events including multi-team tournaments and neutral-site events.
• Collaborate with Streaming Program Manager and Coordinator regarding the Pac-12 Insider live streaming platform with focus on optimizing exposure for all sports and events.
• Manage long-term Programming planning schedule including competitive landscape and other prominent media events.
• Assist in planning and implementation of digital streaming content franchises.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• 3 years of experience in programming, live event scheduling, or other area related to sports media
• Demonstrable history of building strong relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders across varying disciplines
• Understanding of the Pac-12 Conference, the college sports landscape, and media entities.
• Extremely detailed oriented with ability to multitask and maintain accuracy on high-profile information
• Strong knowledge of content viewing trends across the industry on both linear and digital platforms
• Effective interdepartmental communication (Production, Production Operations, Audience Development, Ad Sales, Research, Legal, BITS, Master Control, Conference Office) as well as external communication with key stakeholders at Pac-12 institutions
• Familiarity with Nielsen research methodology, Domo, or other research software a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with Wide Orbit or similar scheduling software is a plus
• Ability to work some hours dictated by the sports schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
