Full Time Job
The Communications Coordinator at Pac-12 Networks supports the Communications department by functioning in a broad, multi-faceted, hands-on capacity, focused on coordinating internal and external communications campaigns and strategies. The ability to prioritize, multi-task, think creatively and take initiative will be paramount to success in this role.
The Communications Coordinator role is based in San Francisco and reports to the Director, Communications, in addition to collaborating with many others across both Pac-12 Networks and the Pac-12 Conference.
Responsibilities
• Curate daily and weekly information gathering (daily clips, weekly programming releases, etc.)
• Maintain relationships with the local footprint radio producers as well as media schedules, interview requests and internal editorial calendar for Pac-12 talent
• Assist with press releases, media advisories, and programming alerts
• Assist in managing and executing the Pac-12 Networks awards submission process
• Coordinate the tracking of campaigns, earned media requests, key initiatives, and tent-pole events, and develop recap reports to share with internal leadership
• Assist with building and maintaining media lists (Cision, etc.) for the communications department
• Maintain on-air talent bio information and dedicated page on Pac-12.com
• Assist with managing customer care inquiries and responses for Pac-12 Networks
• Ideate compelling story angles to help promote all aspects of Pac-12 Networks
• Assist the communications team as necessary and other duties as assigned by the Director, Communications
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations or related subject
• 2-4 years of relevant experience in media, public relations and/or communications
• Thorough understanding of the sports media landscape and the major players within it
• Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational and written communication skills
• Acute sense of judgment, tact and diplomacy
• A strong sense of teamwork and ability to both manage and execute programs from end to end
• Proficiency with basic computer and PR applications including Cision, Google Docs and News Alerts, MS Office Apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, )
• Additional technology prowess (WordPress, videoblogging)
• Avid consumer of sports, entertainment, news and pop culture
• Strong personal interest in collegiate sports
• Some travel and weekends may be required
Preferred
• Experience in sports media
• Knowledge of digital media industry including online, mobile, tablets and other emerging technologies
