The Lighting Supervisor is a Department Head position within the Production Department reporting to the Director of Production. Primary responsibilities include: working closely with each production's Lighting Designer and Director to determine the lighting needs for each production; managing OTC's Associate Lighting Supervisor; scheduling and supervising all electrics hang and focus events (including staffing overhire crew); recruiting, training, and mentoring OTC's two annual Electrics Apprentices; managing and maintaining OTC's lighting equipment in OTC's three indoor spaces and one outdoor space; and managing and working within show as well as annual budgets.
As part of a welcoming and creative organization the Lighting Supervisor will:
Manage the Electrics Department
Set up and maintain all lighting systems and equipment in each of the theater's producing spaces (Main Stage, Theatre Lab, Historic Theater, and Root Family Stage)
Participate in the recruitment, training, and evaluation of OTC's annual Electrics Apprentices. Provide guidance to the apprentices on their capstone project.
Manage and maintain OTC's electrics stock.
Implement a training program for incoming apprentices and the National Player who is in charge of lights
Assist with Special Events and rentals as needed
Cultivate rental and loan relationships with theaters and other organizations in the area
Work closely with the Production Office to effectively manage show budgets and annual budgets.
Work closely with the Director of Production to identify potential Electrics Department improvements, both long and short term.
Work cooperatively with all Production Departments on schedule, shared resources, and with the common goal of producing the best theatre possible for our audience.
