As a Senior Strategic Planning Analyst & Counsel, your work is critical to uncovering valuable insights that help shape the organization's future. You will work to identify, evaluate and realize opportunities for competitive advantage.
Working with colleagues, you will help shape the composition of the team by ensuring compliance within NBA's Collective Bargaining Agreement, optimizing the execution of strategic objectives, and advising on resource allocation and asset management within the Salary Cap system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Demonstrate expertise in administration of the NBA's Collective Bargaining Agreement, Constitution, and Operations Manual
• Negotiate, draft, and execute agreements and contracts on behalf of the organization with players, staff, and other parties
• Perform independent and directed research covering salary cap management, contractual and transactional precedents, competitor analysis, and negotiation preparation
• Oversee and manage immigration, insurance, and policy matters relating to basketball operations
• Command a full range of strategy skills (e.g. research and analysis, cap management, negotiation, scripting)
• Develop impactful reports, tools, presentations, and ongoing deliverables
• Maintain good attendance and punctuality
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
and Requirements:
• Juris Doctor
• 3 years of legal experience with a large law firm and/or in-house with major firm
• Experience with the NBA's Collective Bargaining Agreement preferred
• Outstanding track record of academic and professional achievement
• Proven respect for confidentiality
• Strong communication skills-ability to deliver clear and effective messages to a variety of stakeholders
• Must be able to work long hours on short notice
This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Director of Strategic Planning / Insight & Foresight.
