This is a 1 to 2-month freelance/part-time internship at the upcoming 2nd Ojai Short Film Fest that will take place in Ojai, CA from December 13th-15th, 2019, and we require a super-duper admin ninja to help us put up a great show!
Our first year was a big success screening 33 films in competition including Oscar-winning documentary short ''Period. End Of Sentence'' and Oscar nominee for best animated short ''Weekends''.
This year we also have some Oscar-worthy contenders, films starring Marisa Tomei, Minne Driver, Katie Holmes and Jane Lynch, a spotlight on films from South Asia, and a diverse selection of films from Sierra Leone, Portugal, Spain, Australia, Israel, and Kyrgyzstan.
The internship is an administrative position with some social media marketing duties to be performed. The candidate would be required to assist the co-founder based in LA though he/she doesn't need to be physically present all the time and can work remotely.
Ideal Candidate:
Either studying film, digital and/or PR media studies OR just graduated and looking for a start-out experience. The candidate should be passionate about film and digital media and enthusiastic about film festivals. Some admin and social media experience is preferred or someone who is a go-getter and logical and practical in handling daily life situations.
Duties:
- Email and follow-throughs with selected filmmakers to make sure film assets are delivered
- Follow up via email with potential sponsors already tapped - cash and in-kind
- Coordinate and track ticket sales
- Sort out assets in festival email folders on google drive
- Update program and scheduling spreadsheets
- Coordinate with film editor categorizing the films in blocks
- Draft outline of email newsletters to patrons/filmmakers/past attendees
- Assist with some social media and private emails to push ticket sales
- Coordinate with design vendors for program guide and fest badges
- Help with research and outreach for festival partnership
Your Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Effective and practical multi-tasker
- Efficient and quick thinker
- Good with ideas to co-brand with other companies/organizations
The duration of the internship is now until the end of the festival which is December 15th. The hours and days are flexible but would be 10 hours at the max per week.
This would be an enriching experience for someone who is pursuing film, media, and PR as a career.
We look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible!
