This is a Part Time Unpaid Internship
Editing & Production Intern (On-Site)
Location: Gardena, CA (On-site, 3-4 days/wk)
Dates: January 20 - May 8
Department: Marketing & Creative
The Position:
This spring, we're looking for an Editing & Production Intern who's ready to contribute as a full member of the Ocean Front team. This is not an entry-level position for someone looking to ''get their feet wet'' in the industry. Instead, we are seeking a driven, detail-oriented creative who's already been in the mix. Someone who can handle real production responsibilities, move confidently and swiftly between production and post, and bring technical/creative expertise to our projects.
As an Ocean Front intern, you will work as an assistant on real-world projects, not just menial tasks. Our interns work directly with producers, editors, and directors on active projects from start to finish: from prepping gear and managing media, to cutting roughs and providing input on final deliverables. You'll also support the team with production logistics, creative assistance, and day-to-day operations that keep our storytelling machine running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
• Production Assistance: Support shoots on location and in the studio (handle setup, breakdown, lighting, audio, and camera operations).
• Post-Production: Ingest, organize, and manage media; assist in editing short and long-form projects; create cuts, sync sound, and prep timelines for senior editors.
• File & Asset Management: Maintain clear, organized project files across multiple projects and drives using the established Ocean Front DIT structure.
• Equipment Management: Maintain and prepare film and audio gear; track inventory and ensure readiness for each production.
• Creative Collaboration: Contribute ideas, feedback, and creative input throughout the production process.
• Personal & Administrative Assistance: Provide logistical and organizational support to producers and directors as needed (scheduling, communication, and general coordination).
What We're Looking For:
• A self-starter with real-world production or editing experience (freelance, agency, or studio background preferred).
• Proficient in Davinci Resolve, with working knowledge of After Effects, Premiere Pro, Canva, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop.
• Comfortable on set, with knowledge of camera systems, lighting setups, and audio equipment (Sony, Arri, RED, Blackmagic, LitePanels, Aputure, Sound Devices).
• An excellent communicator who thrives in a collaborative environment.
• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, time management, and follow-through.
• Passionate about storytelling, visual craft, and bringing creative ideas to life.
Requirements:
• Minimum 1-2 years of professional or freelance experience in production or post-production (internships included).
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Audition, Bridge).
• Comprehensive understanding of color, sound, and file formats/codecs (ProRes, H.264, Color Science, etc).
• Reliable transportation to Gardena, CA and ability to work flexible hours (and days) during production.
• Strong references or portfolio demonstrating relevant work.
• Video Submission
At Ocean Front Entertainment, we value our team members and like to get to know everyone as best we can, not just through words on a page. Unlike other internship opportunities, we like to take a deep dive into all of our applicants. Please submit a 2-3 minute video talking to the camera (vlog style) answering the following questions:
• Briefly introduce yourself (name, college, major) and your relevant background in film/entertainment.
• Why are you interested in entering Ocean Front Entertainment, specifically? What drew you to us?
• What are your best skills that would be helpful to a production company? What are you most confident doing?
• Anything else you would like to share.
