Full Time Job
The Oakland Athletics is currently seeking a full-time hourly Special Events Coordinator. The Special Events Coordinator is responsible for the planning, coordinating, and execution of events for the Oakland A's. Events include select game day events and those held outside of the ballpark. The Special Event Coordinator will also work on various event-related projects as assigned.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in the development of event initiatives or campaigns to grow fan base, increase lead generation, and drive brand affinity
• Stay up to date and maintain knowledge of events within various market
• Collaborate with multiple departments and work in cross-functional teams to successfully plan and execute events
• Develop working knowledge of event/sports industry, sales products, data system, marketing campaigns, brand guidelines, sales cycle, and event strategies
• Research, create, archive, and maintain event-related databases including the preparation of reports or recaps
• Create and edit event information/communication briefings for internal and external teams
• Oversee and coordinate all aspects of event planning, event management, and event execution including site visits, setup, strike, load-in, load-out, creating event layout, on-site staffing plans, and etc.
• Ensure all projects are up to standard and align with strategy, brand, and budget
• Work with and maintain good relationships with local businesses, organizations, clients, partners, sponsors, and/or vendors
• Lead and supervise part-time team to execute events, assist with scheduling/request, and sending event communication
• Serve as liaison for Special Event Department in meetings and at events
• Represent organization positively with high level of professionalism and customer service at all events
• Oversee marketing vehicle including, but not limited to, calendar, maintenance, and travel
• Manage inventory and prepare giveaway items to raise brand awareness, increase participation or touch point, and incentivize leads
• Perform other related or ad-hoc duties as assigned
Qualifications
/Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in sports, event planning, and/or marketing
• Knowledge of baseball, sports culture, events and/or marketing preferred
• Must be organized, detail orientated, possess strong communication skills, and have excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong project management skills with ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects at once
• Ability to work independently and contribute in a team environment
• Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
• Available to work flexible full-time hours, which may include weekends, holidays, evenings, and after business hours
• Must have a valid Driver License and ability to travel for site visits, off-site events, and/or meetings when required
• Proficient in various software and applications including but not limited to:
Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.)
Adobe (Acrobat Pro, Photoshop)
Google System (sheets, docs, forms, map, etc.)
Salesforce and/or Tableau
