Full Time Job
The Oakland Athletics are currently seeking a Manager of Community Engagement to help develop and execute community programs that strategically aligned to the Oakland A's mission and business objectives. This position is responsible for the implementation of community engagement initiatives and Community Fund fundraising efforts. We are looking for an emerging leader who is passionate about service and building community.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Responsible for the execution and implementation of the team's community engagement strategic plan
* Oversee Community Fund fundraising initiatives including but not limited to marquee events and game day programs, which include 50/50 raffle, auctions, and scoreboard messages
* Manage Community Engagement and Community Fund Coordinators and Interns
* Work collaboratively across teams and functions to effectively promote community engagement programs, values and measurables and to deliver on business goals
* Oversee Community Engagement and Community Fund communication & marketing implementation, which include marketing collateral, press releases and website update requests
* Assist with player and MLB community engagement efforts
* Collaborate with Director of Community Engagement on seasonal evaluation reporting and event tracking
* Assist in other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
* Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Communications, Business Administration, Sports Management or related field. MBA or advanced degree in relevant field preferred
* Understanding of sports philanthropy; experience in sports philanthropy with a team or organization preferred
* Experience managing a team
* Possess drive, initiative, leadership, strategic thinking, problem solving, and the ability to cultivate and sustain a high degree of cross-functional collaboration, coordination, and communication with internal and external partners
* Experience in program management and volunteer management
* Strong relationship building skills and familiarity with the local community
* High level of integrity and emotional intelligence
* Experience facilitating multi-faceted projects and strategy in a fast-paced environment
* Demonstrated ability to partner with and influence others and the ability to work in a team environment
* Resilient and able to adapt to challenges associated with change
* Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as required
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
