Oakland Coliseum Groundskeeper
Department: Stadium Operations
Reports to: Assistant Head Groundskeeper
Job Classification: Part-Time Hourly/Non-Exempt
City/State: Oakland, CA
Description:
This position will be responsible for assisting with the repair and maintenance of the Oakland Coliseum's playing surface and its surrounding components as a safe, first-class baseball field by performing daily turf, dirt and water management; game preparation as well as short and long-term maintenance planning.
Responsibilities:
• Work with the Assistant Head Groundskeeper, Head Groundskeeper and grounds staff on the daily maintenance of Oakland Coliseum playing field
• Work as a groundskeeper for all field events that take place on the Oakland Coliseum field - to include baseball, football, concerts, and other events
• Assist with the yearly installation of the new playing field surface prior to the beginning of the Major League Baseball Season each year
• Assist grounds crew during any inclement weather situations either during an event or on non-event days
• Assist with any turf replacements during the year as needed
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Must be available to work all scheduled field events - including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Must be able to operate field maintenance equipment
• Must be able to lift upwards on 50 lbs
• Must become member of grounds union
• Prior experience in turf and baseball dirt maintenance is preferred but not required
• Prior experience in irrigation repair and maintenance is preferred but not required
