Title: Ticket Sales Intern
Reporting to: Manager, Ticket Sales
Type: Non-Exempt
Pay Rate: $15.97/hr
Location: Oakland, CA
Job Summary
The Oakland Athletics are currently seeking candidates for our Ticket Sales Internship that will participate in our Sales Development Program. This program will run from approximately March/May through August 2023 with the potential to extend longer. This internship offers an opportunity to become an active member of our ticketing team where you will experience various roles within ticket sales, retention, and service. You will gain practical knowledge and individual development in all areas of ticketing including sales, customer service, premium seating, operations, and gameday programming & events. You will also have the opportunity to participate in networking events with an array of department leaders throughout the A's organization.
This internship will prepare candidates for a career in sports ticketing. The sales development program has a track record leading to full-time promotion and opportunities within the A's organization and other professional sports teams. Candidates who recently graduated or will be graduating in the Spring 2023 are preferred to best align with full time promotion opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
• Learn and execute sales initiatives within group sales, premium, and season ticket retention.
• Play an active role in our customer service by using all forms of communication.
• Develop proficiency with MLB digital ticketing initiatives.
• Support group sales programs, theme nights, and overall gameday logistics
• Effectively utilize sales technology including Salesforce CRM and ProVenue.
• Assist and spearhead special projects to support organization initiatives.
• Create and present your own internship project to the A's leadership team.
• Provide ticket sales, operations, and customer service support on game days.
• Represent the organization in a professional manner, consistent with company pillars and culture.
Qualifications
• Presently enrolled in an accredited college or university for an undergraduate or master's degree, or have recently graduated within the past 12 months
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced sales and service environment.
• Excellent verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills; previous customer service experience preferred
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Candidates must be enthusiastic with a strong work ethic and have the ability to problem solve
• Desire to grow professionally and advance in the sports industry.
• Eagerness to learn and ask questions.
• Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
