OVERVIEW
NPR seeks a Project Manager for its podcast portfolio, which reaches millions of people each week. This position will work with leadership across all of our shows on ways to grow and engage audiences, implement strategic goals, and create and deliver on new ideas. The successful candidate will be highly organized, collaborative, and an excellent communicator who loves working with both creative teams and data.
The role reports to the Deputy Director, Podcast Strategy & Operations. This is a medium-term backfill position: We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible, and to work on our fun, collaborative team through mid-to-late April 2025.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Project manage the launch of new podcasts, including new feeds and series/seasons in existing feeds.
• Manage NPR's roadmap of podcast initiatives, including compiling, editing, and disseminating a monthly document with input from across divisional leaders, running monthly reviews, meetings, and updates across a large division.
• Communicate with partners and platforms about launches, updates, marketing support, and new initiatives.
• Manage access to and training for podcast analytics.
• Work collaboratively with shows for the Deputy Director and SVP for Podcasting Strategy, to gather feedback and report on unmet show needs.
• Create, edit, and disseminate best practice documentation for podcasts, with an eye toward audience growth and digital engagement.
• Support brainstorming and prototyping of new ideas and projects, including newsletters, social media experiments, digital build-outs and new audio projects.
• Conceptualize and execute quarterly projects for specific teams that yield lasting growth and engagement results as directed. Communicate across teams and with leadership about progress and collaborate on solutions.
• Assist the Deputy Director for Podcast Strategy & Operations with cross-divisional podcast projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• At least 5 years of relevant experience, including experience in a field related to project management, editorial- or marketing-driven audience development, training, or communications.
• Familiarity with the podcast industry and with best practices for podcast audience growth.
• Excellent communication skills, including writing and editing documentation, creating presentation decks, and conveying complex/nuanced information across work groups with diverse backgrounds and varying needs.
• Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage complexity and prioritize multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated experience managing projects with cross-functional teams, and many stakeholders, moving deadlines, and ties to revenue.
• A positive approach to embracing change, resiliency, and an ability to keep teams calm and focused during times of stress.
• A hunger for learning challenging concepts and taking on new assignments.
• Cultivate and support an inclusive and equitable workplace culture.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience working with platforms like Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
• Experience working in news organizations or with journalists.
• Experience working in Airtable or other documentation and project management tools.
WORK LOCATION
• Remote Permitted: This is a remote permitted role. This role is based out of our Washington, DC office but the employee may choose to work on a remote basis from a location that NPR approves.
JOB TYPE
• This is a temporary (9-month) full time position.
COMPENSATION
Hourly Rate: The U.S. based anticipated hourly rate for this opportunity is $39.12 - $42.93 per hour. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum hourly rate NPR expects to provide fo
