NPR’s Programming Division is home to NPR’s on-demand audio, visual, and experiential strategy and production teams as well as NPR Music. We’re looking for highly creative and organized people to assist in all aspects of audience retention and development.
To facilitate continued audience growth, NPR is creating a new role and team within the programming division: Podcast Coordinators. This new team will assist with all aspects of content extension. The work is complex and ever changing and engages myriad stakeholders across NPR including business, technical and editorial teams. A team of new Content Coordinators will be assigned to affinity clusters of shows and teams within the Programming Division, for instance Culture & Point of View (Throughline, It’s Been a Minute, Code Switch), Personal Growth (TED Radio Hour, Life Kit, The Limits) or Economics (Planet Money, The Indicator).
The Content Coordinators will facilitate communications across NPR and foster collaboration, with the aim of amplifying editorial content and attracting new audiences. Ideal candidates will have many of the skills of a project coordinator, but will also be able to engage substantively with editorial content. The Content Coordinators will attend team staff meetings and have regular one-on-ones with showrunners. These positions can be remote.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Business development communication and collaboration. The coordinator will be in regular contact with NPR stakeholders in marketing, digital media, sponsorship, and others. This includes keeping track of company wide and divisional initiatives and managing the workflow to push these initiatives forward.
• Editorial engagement with podcast, broadcast, digital and visuals teams. The coordinator will pitch and find opportunities for collaboration, feed swaps, social engagement, and adjacent digital, visual and broadcast stories. This includes looking for thematic opportunities across the podcast portfolio.
• Maintain a collective content editorial calendar.
• Facilitate program and network modernization efforts with Content Ops.
• Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS
• Excellent organizational skills as demonstrated through hands-on project management or administrative experience.
• Proven ability to anticipate needs and problem solve with minimal direction
• Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects at once.
• Proven ability to communicate clearly and collaborate across multiple divisions at once.
• Knowledge of new and emerging social platforms and trends.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Eagle-eyed attention to detail.
