The ideal candidate is one part people manager, one part systems and logistics whiz. Someone who understands complex workflows and how to untangle them and nurture the skills and potential of their team. Operations lead for an audio portfolio that includes a variety of promotional assets, fundraising messages, and funding credits for distribution to the NPR network. This position will work closely with both the Director, Network Programming & Production and Sr. Director Broadcast Programming Strategy to manage logistics and workflows for the broader team reporting to each of those roles. This individual will be responsible for the implementation of strategic priorities, creative thinking around training and scheduling, and innovative approaches to problem-solving.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage NPR Funding Credit Team:
• Work with team members to ensure timely and accurate production and delivery of funding credits to internal and external stakeholders.
• Act as liaison between NPR and NPM - the corporate sponsorship organization that sells underwriting for NPR - as needed to ensure smooth workflow between the two groups.
• Determine whether and how the workflow of funding credit production might be further streamlined.
• Implement and facilitate the adoption of new technology and any other changes into the team workflow.
• Supervise work of all team members including conducting their annual reviews, providing feedback, supporting growth and skill development, and managing scheduling.
• Identify growth and training opportunities for team members
Coordinate Team Atlas-wide Scheduling:
• Create and maintain a master calendar of all Team Atlas members - direct reports and those reporting to other team managers - to track and support vacation requests, backfill needs due to training rotations or other reasons, and manage the process of identifying backfill and coverage for mission critical work across the team at all times.
• Work to ensure cross training is complete and thorough across the team to support leave periods within the group.
• Work closely with the Director of Network Programming & Production to determine best practices for production resource allocation, with the goal of streamlining processes and workflows for a number of assets delivered to member stations.
Manage the Custom Promo Process for Member Stations:
• Support NPR Member stations by managing the process by which they request and receive audio spots voiced by NPR hosts and reporters. These spots help stations bring in membership revenue, promote events, broadcast schedule changes and more. This role will coordinate the resources required to create them and make strategic decisions around the cadence for openings, the parameters for them, and more.
• Set schedule for and manage communication with Member stations around openings
• Determine how best to allocate team resources to fulfill and deliver spots
• Informs strategy around resource allocation.
• Help Sr. Director and Director manage cross team resources around special promo projects and other work that the team is asked to adopt responsibility for.
Cultivate and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace
Cultivate and support an inclusive and equitable workplace culture
Supervise at least 4 direct reports, including preparing their regular performance reviews, and making effective recommendations regarding any hiring, promotion, and discipline for these positions.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in work experience
REQUIRED SKILLS
• Experience in audio production
• Strong organizational skills and/or Project Management experience
• Demonstrated leadership skills and a desire to build and grow those skills as a people manager
• A commitment to creating a positive, productive, inclusive culture, demonstrating at all times respect for the diverse constituencies at NPR and within the public radio system.
• Substantial technology know how and systems experience
• Ability to act as a liaison between teams across the organization
PREFERRED SKILLS
• Familiarity with Salesforce
• Experience in working for or with NPR Member stations, or with public radio in another capacity
