Operations Desk Production Assistant (Temporary)
OVERVIEW
This is a part-time temporary position which carries responsibilities that will need to be fulfilled during major news events within the 2024 election cycle and during periods where backfill is required.
This is a union represented role covered under the terms of a collective bargaining agreement with SAG-AFTRA.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Managing daily recording requests and ingests
• Equipment management & allocation
• Studio Booking & Production Management
• Audio Engineering Coordination
• Tracking equipment rentals & returns

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Familiarity utilizing digital audio and publishing systems and equipment to edit, record, and distribute content both in-house and in the field
• General understanding of production facility bookings and desire to learn the logistical ins and outs of each
• Comfortable facilitating, instructing, and advising on basic audio production tasks and audio recording equipment use
• Experience with some logistical planning and communications for live events and specials with close supervision by managers or more senior Ops staff
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Understanding of nonlinear media management principles
• Experience mixing and recording audio in a production environment
WORK LOCATION
• Hybrid Permitted: This is a hybrid permitted role. Some aspects of this role include duties that are better performed at an NPR facility. The employee will be required to be onsite at the Washington, DC office at least 10 days a year. The employee must also reside in an NPR supported location based on the number of onsite days they choose.
REQUIRED SKILLS
• Flexibility in adapting to changing editorial needs in a fast based, dynamic news environment
• Service based background
• Ability to multitask and drive actions to completion
JOB TYPE
• This is a temporary (6-month) part time position.
COMPENSATION
Hourly Rate: The U.S. based anticipated hourly rate for this opportunity is $32.45 - $33.41 per hour. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum hourly rate NPR expects to provide for new hires for the position across all US locations.
