NPR, the leader in podcasting in the US, is looking for a podcast operations manager to oversee day-to-day operations for our growing catalog of podcasts, including management of third-party platforms (hosting, sponsorship, integrations, distribution) for all of NPR’s audio and podcast content.
This role is a cross-functional one that requires both a process-driven, operational mindset, keen attention to detail, as well as technological skill and aptitude. The ideal candidate will be committed and have a combination of experience and attitude that will help them thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment built around a culture with a passion for podcasting.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversee and manage aspects of publishing and all distribution processes for NPR podcasts
• Manage a team of podcast operations specialists, who have the responsibility for executing day-to-day publishing, ad ops and distribution tasks
• Build appropriate workflows, processes and automations in collaboration with editorial, marketing, and sponsorship counterparts
• Work with the Senior Product Manager, Podcasts, to identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency via software development
• Ensure proper documentation of standard operating procedures
• Train operations agents on standard operating procedures
• Coordinate support workflows with the NPR Digital Support team
• Supervise at least 2 direct reports, including preparing their regular performance reviews, and making effective recommendations regarding any hiring, promotion, and discipline for these positions.
• Cultivate and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace
REQUIRED SKILLS
• Oversee and manage aspects of publishing and all distribution processes for NPR podcasts
• Manage a team of podcast operations specialists, who have the responsibility for executing day-to-day publishing, ad ops and distribution tasks
• Build appropriate workflows, processes and automations in collaboration with editorial, marketing, and sponsorship counterparts
• Work with the Senior Product Manager, Podcasts, to identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency via software development
• Ensure proper documentation of standard operating procedures
• Train operations agents on standard operating procedures
• Coordinate support workflows with the NPR Digital Support team
PREFERRED SKILLS
• Audio production experience, preferable in a journalistic environment
• Familiarity with studio technology, audio editing and audio ad tech software
• Experience creating or hosting a podcast
