OVERVIEW

The Grant and Reporting Manager is responsible for producing compelling grant reports and proposals for multi-disciplinary projects that include technology, user experience and business needs. Reporting to the Executive Director of Institutional Giving, the manager will write, assemble and submit grant requests that communicate NPR’s plans to develop the tools for the digital network; write reports on funded outcomes as required; create and manage any grant amendments, schedule a calendar of internal and external meetings, and develop proposal and report submissions as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and write grant reports to grant-making organizations and, where applicable, major donors, to include where appropriate a comprehensive summary of deliverables and any changes to anticipated proposal outcomes.
• Maintain reporting templates for grants and reports, modifying as necessary.
• Ensure that NPR is compliant with funders’ reporting timelines and requirements.
• Work closely with managers and program directors to ensure a solid understanding of initiatives, programs and activities of NPR Digital Network and Product teams to present that information effectively to secure and report on funding.
• Document and track all timelines and deadlines, including for submissions, pending grants and reports.
• Prioritize projects to keep multiple assignments moving in a timely manner, meet deadlines and manage supplemental material required for proposals and reports.
• Provide writing or editing support for communications and development related materials, including grant letters, acknowledgements, annual reports and press releases.
• Coordinate with colleagues across the enterprise, including Member Partnership and Development, among others.
PREFERRED SKILLS
The exact level of this position will be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience and skills
• Minimum of three years of experience in grant writing, including federal grants, editing and related work with proven track record of successful grant awards.
• An understanding of software project management, especially Agile-Enabled Development
• Superior written and oral communication skills, including a capacity to communicate complex ideas, program-related metrics and outcomes compellingly to a variety of audiences. Skills should include experience with technical writing.
• Experience managing large, complex initiatives.
• Excellent communication and writing skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to handle difficult problems and interact with senior/executive management and external/internal stakeholders with confidence and tact.
• Strong computer skills, including compiling and framing graphics, metrics and charts.
• Highly organized with attentiveness to details and strict adherence to deadlines and deliverables.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced and changing work environment and able to work well under pressure.
• Highly collaborative with an appreciation of the benefit of a multidisciplinary team approach.
• Knowledge or experience working in a networked and/or federated system, such as public media.
• Skills or experience with analyzing program-related metrics and outcomes.
• Microsoft Suite, Slack, Google and Salesforce experience.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
WORK LOCATION
This is a remote permitted role. This role is based out of our Washington, DC office but the employee may choose to work on a remote basis from a location that NPR approves.
JOB TYPE
This is a full time, exempt position.
COMPENSATION
Salary Range: The U.S. based anticipated salary range for this opportunity is $90,000 - 120,000 plus benefits. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salaries NPR expects to provide for new hires for the position across all US locations.
