As a Digital Analytics Lead, you will extract insights from complex media usage data sets, apply your data visualization and dashboard creation expertise, work with NPR product teams on reporting and analyses, and be an analytics thought leader in areas such as mobile apps, email, and digital donations. You’ll be part of NPR’s Audience Insights team of analysts and researchers, working closely with digital product teams, the newsroom, and leaders at NPR and NPR Member stations around the country. You have a unique blend of thoughtful data-driven curiosity and pragmatism. You know how to make data come to life and be actionable. And you love the idea of using data to make NPR (and the world) a better place.
Supervision Received
Works under the direct supervision of Senior Manager, Audience Insights.
What You Will Do:
• Lead digital consumer behavioral analysis and uncover trends and insights in key areas that influence NPR and Member station digital product development, content strategy, marketing, and revenue. Focus areas will include mobile apps, email newsletters, and digital donations.
• Oversee the development, design, and maintenance of our portfolio of digital analytics dashboards and intelligence tools, which serve the NPR newsroom, programming, and digital product teams.
• Build strong consultative working relationships with colleagues, both internally at NPR and with NPR Member stations, to define analytics priorities and communicate actionable business insights.
• Develop statistical models and uncover patterns and relationships in diverse datasets that have real impact on the success of NPR’s content and product development strategy.
• Define KPIs, develop measurement plans, manage tagging and tracking strategies, and monitor data integrity to ensure robust measurement of NPR’s digital products.
What We Are Looking For:
• Multiple years of experience generating insights from digital consumer behavioral analytics data using platforms (like Google Analytics, Firebase, or similar)
• Excellent oral, written, and visual communication skills, particularly for explaining complex quantitative information to non-technical and business audiences
• Experience designing dashboards (with tools like Mode Analytics, Data Studio, Tableau, or similar) to empower decision-making across an organization
• Experience managing complex analytics projects from conception to conclusion
• Experience fetching data using SQL and/or analytics APIs (Google Cloud or BigQuery experience a plus)
• Experience analyzing data and building statistical models (using R, Python, or similar)
• Proven mastery of Excel and/or Google Sheets for data processing and analysis
• Experience designing measurement and analytics implementation plans for digital products
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently with little supervision as well as in a collaborative team environment
