Senior Accountant (Temporary)
COMPANY OVERVIEW
Founded in 2022 by Peter Chernin, North Road Company is a global, multi-genre studio that produces scripted, documentary, and unscripted film and TV content for global markets. North Road comprises market-leading production entities, including Chernin Entertainment, Red Arrow Studios' U.S. assets (Kinetic Content, Left/Right, and 44 Blue Productions); Karga Seven, Words + Pictures, a premium non-fiction business; and an international business devoted to strategic acquisitions and localized programming. North Road is one of the largest suppliers of TV and film content, with over 70 active productions from Chernin Entertainment, Words + Pictures, and Red Arrow's U.S. portfolios.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Controller and Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant will assist in all accounting close functions at North Road and other entities as needed. This includes maintaining the general ledger and preparing month-end close reconciliations and procedures. This successful person will be needed for 6 months, and there is potential for this to be a temp-to-hire position.
This role is based out of our Playa Vista office in Los Angeles, with in-office expectations Monday through Thursday.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assist with month and quarter-end close, including activities such as but not limited to recording month-end journal entries and account reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts
· Creating invoices and managing receivable schedules
· Supervise accounts payable process including liaising with vendors and suppliers, and collaborating with internal teams
· Prepare monthly financials and management reporting packages
· Assist in maintaining and enforcing the Company's revenue recognition policy
· Participate in year-end financial statement audit, including audit support schedules and related requests
· Maintain general ledger structure, continuously optimizing accounting processes
· Assess, research and document appropriate US GAAP treatment for various transactions within the business
· Assist in ad-hoc projects as needed
EXPERIENCE
· 3+ years of financial accounting and/or audit experience
· Must have experience in filmed entertainment (film and/or television)
· Production Accounting experience preferred
· CPA preferred
· Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or Finance
Skills
· Advanced excel skills preferred
· Experience with Sage Intacct preferred
· Problem solver with excellent written and oral communications skills
· Team player, positive attitude and can-do approach
