Overview and Responsibilities
The Vice President, Physical Production for Animation movies will oversee all production aspects of animation from concept to completion including oversight of in-house productions. The VP, Physical Production for Animation will collaborate with Nickelodeon animation cross-functional teams including: Post-Production, Finance, Business Affairs, Labor Relations, Legal, IT, Human Resources and Facility Operations departments throughout the production process. The ideal candidate has a love for animation, is collaborative and connected within the entertainment industry having positive relationships with artistic talent and production staff. Strong Production Leadership experience a must!
• Create movie budgets, schedules, milestones and assumptions.
• Have a good understanding of competitive market positions, titles and salary ranges.
• Mentor, oversee and work closely with production leadership on the films to steer them to successful completion, on schedule and on budget.
• Promote and support Diversity & Inclusion initiatives in partnership with Nickelodeon Leadership
• Assess and manage Partner Vendor relationships, communication, reporting and delivery.
• Review, manage and assess various department schedules and reports on films – identify risk areas and help resolve and/or escalate issues.
• Partner with Development and Current to make sure production can achieve the creative goals.
• Problem solve with production leadership on series/movies on proactive solutions and day-to-day challenges, as needed.
• Assist in the staffing of production management and artistic talent across all films in production and/or development.
• Establish and maintain processes for studio or production management which increases efficiency or increases our ability to move faster, including template budgets or generic schedules.
• Help establish uniform production metrics and reporting across all series/movies.
• Provide key support for production and development teams with respect to managing subcontractors.
• Identify and evaluate of animation subcontractors for various films in production; pursue high quality partners for the future of the studio.
• Aid in the complexity assessments and management on films – provide recommendations for getting the most value on screen.
• With SVP, help create, test and establish new production and/or development initiatives.
• Create and maintain an industry network with key leadership
• Stay on top of key industry trends and find opportunities.
Basic Qualifications
• 10 years of progressive production management experience in an animation studio.
• Production leadership experience in creating and assessing budgets, assumptions, achievements and schedules for movies.
• Wide industry knowledge of people, process and various pipelines.
• Knowledge of Feature pipeline required.
• Familiarity with important animation software, hardware, databases and asset management systems.
• Excellent interpersonal and team building skills.
Additional Qualifications
• Experience in a large dynamic studio a plus.
• Relationships and experience working with subcontractors a major plus.
