Full Time Job
This position will report to the VP of Retail Marketing and lead the development and implementation of a full range of Marketing pitches and programs to support Viacom’s consumer products placement in priority accounts at retail. In this role, the Director will be the lead for their counterparts on the Retail Development (sales) Team to provide marketing strategy and support that will drive incremental sales and placement, in addition to being a point person for the Viacom organization regarding the accounts and business connections across media sales and other lines of business.
This person will manage a team of up to three support staff and will work with each level of the Retail Marketing and Development Teams to spearhead all ideation of marketing programs, asset and presentation development, program execution and management of budgets, timelines and reporting.
Responsibilities
• Support the Retail Development team with marketing strategies, pitch/presentation materials and seamless execution of programs to drive sales of product sales at retail.
• Lead ideation and development of marketing for key accounts, continually working to elevate retail marketing strategies by identifying and testing new media, staying informed on shopper trends, measuring tactics against research/reporting and analyzing data.
• Oversee team of support staff at the manager and coordinator levels, managing the day-to-day workflow and developing skill sets with an eye towards growth.
• Managing the above-mentioned staff, oversee the smooth submission and execution of all marketing needs related to accounts, including but not limited to:
o Ideation and development of all marketing programs, materials and marketing-related presentation materials, multi-platform media, in-store elements, GWP’s, program recaps, etc.
o Development and implementation of media plans across platforms, working with proper contacts across and outside of the Viacom organization.
o Kick-off and execution of marketing creative, working with Viacom’s Global Creative Group.
o Routing of both internal and external creative and assets through key internal and external stakeholders and checkpoints.
o Development of and adherence to timelines.
o Assistance with budget allocations and management of all adherence, payments and reporting, including regular updates to management.
• Spearhead all internal communications related to accounts, including retail calendars, program overviews, recaps, and distribute to appropriate contacts to ensure that teams are well versed on initiatives.
• Communicate with external stakeholders, including retail and licensee marketing counterparts to ensure alignment on plans, assets and programs.
Accompany the Retail Development teams at meetings and on calls
• to effectively present marketing strategies and programs.
• Engage and oversee outside creative and marketing agencies with support and execution tactics.
• Periodically lead or assist on key projects spanning wider than, or outside of allocated accounts, and lead direct team to ensure similar capabilities.
Basic Qualifications
• 8 years’ experience in marketing, retail, licensing, entertainment or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree OR applicable progressive experience in retail, marketing, creative agency, licensing, consumer products fields may be considered in lieu of education.
Additional Qualifications
• Working knowledge of entertainment and/or retail industry.
• Creative team player with high energy and a passion for product, entertainment, and marketing.
• Excellent communication skills, inter-personal, speaking (presentation), copy writing and review.
• Excellent planning and project management competencies, with the ability anticipate outcomes and problem-solve.
• Strong team leader with the ability to attract, retain and develop talent.
• Technology, social and new/emerging media savvy.
An analytical mind; able to provide insightful conclusions and recommendations based on trend data and market research.
• Polished skills using PowerPoint, Keynote, Excel and
• Photoshop/Illustrator, if possible.
• Understanding of financial statements and forecasting.
• Keen eye for design with the ability to provide feedback to consistently refine and elevate.
• Sound judgment to effectively elevate strategic concerns to senior management in a timely and accurate manner.
• Ability to develop strong working relationships across a diverse organization and with external partners and resources.
